  • RVC for B7 PassatWagon

Hi All, can anyone provide some advice on who in the Melbourne metro area can fit an RVC. I have the RNS510 & am told it can be done provided the coding is correct. I am not confident doing this myself. I have been talking to Shawn from Motivauto who is confident it can be done for $770.

    Any advice is most appreciated.

Now that my car has been around for a month and a half... with my drive and two kids under four I am after the same in Sydney...

    Begin micro-rant

You would think rather than delete the option VW would have pre-wired it so it was just a "replace the trim with cam + code" so the dealer could install it within the year... rather than have people have to retro fit it completely for $800 odd after a $400 discount to the Park assist pack (which was the cheapest way into the RVC)

    Micro-rant over.

Thanks FSI220. Your micro-rant is very valid. I am just concerned that if it isn't done right that other functions on the RNS510 unit may not work. Shame we are in different states.

If you are considering Motivauto, aparently they are close to putting out a DAB+ soulution (a bunch of peeps including myself are sweating on them putting some pricing, availability, and interstate install info over on the Audio section of this forum), maybe they can do some "packaging" for you if you hold out a month....

If you talk to them again, can you prod them on DAB+...

I have just left them a message. I am trying to package up my sisters Porsche Cayenne & my car for RVC together to see if a deal can be struck. I know when I spoke to Motivauto a 2-3 weeks ago he did mention about digital radio & the way he was talking it is now available. I checked their website (Motivauto) & the product list advertises DAB+. I will ask him re price & package deal & insterstage install.

OK. This is what I have found out. RVC is $700+GST. DAB+ is $999+GST. Helix DSP Audio upgrade is $999+GST (maybe not worthwhile if you have dynoaudio). He said he could package it up for $2,250+GST.

The VW existing antenna is not suitable for DAB+ so an additional antenna is required on the windscreen corner near the top of the A pillar.

He says he has recently done an RVC for an RNS510 unit with the 360 deg sensor monitoring with no problems. Given I have only just bought the car I might leave the extras for the moment & just settle for the RVC.

I have asked about Syd installs but he has not responded to that. I will let you know.

Erm.... hewmechissit? I am hanging out for DAB in my car... but I would have to see how RVC, Dab and Nav packages & plays together ... coz on its own... look , the labour, bits and recovering the research might justify the price, but my justifying that spend is another matter...I might also have to settle for the RVC...

Hi FSI220, Shawn from Motivauto said he does have people in NSW who can fit this for you & suggested you give him a call. BTW, I was able to price the RVC down to $670 cash fully installed. It will be done on 29/3. I will provide some feedback afterwards.

Yes to both Ive been told. I have the RNS510 with ParkAssist& was told "no problems". Feel free to contact them as I found him quite helpful. Emails are better than phone.

I'd be keen to see if they can fit a reversing camera to the RCD510. I really need it at night as I can't see anything with the rear tint and high level brake light when reversing. I've got the camera from the tig that I could use too.
