Spoke with Motivauto last week about upgrading the RCD510 to include SatNav (only).

Over the phone quote of $1200 including GST fitted. A bit steep for my liking. I think half that is about right.

Apparently there is a circuit board that is swapped in, and the map updates are around $150, and updates are available every 6 months.

Might stick with the portable one until a little more competition pushes the price down some more.

I emailed them (motivauto)twice now and yet no reply. All I want installed is a RVC.
How's the RVC fitted by them to the RCD510.
I saw in Qld they can fit the flip out badge cam but dunno if u need to supply the actual unit.

I am sure they do the flip out RVC for sedans. Their website only shows the wagon I think.Their whole idea about any aftermarket work is to make it look original. If you look at their website I am sure I have seen RVC with RCN510.

I also have trouble getting a hold of them by email or by phone but I suppose he is busy with installs. The job done on my friends Tiguan was top notch.

Yeah, at that + about 1k for Dab+ I might have to wait and see if the RNS520 appears with DAB+ for similar monies... I can wait for that, but I would still need an RVC solution...

I am scheduled to get my RVC fitted on April 5. Will provide some feedback afterwards.

There is a potential issue as my current image when I select reverse has 360 degree sensor monitoring. I am hoping this will remain but on the left had side of the screen as a smaller image & the RVC view will accommodate the rest of the screen.

There is a possibility that when I select reverse I will need to choose either the RVC view or the existing animated view.

So $1200 for Nav install on the RCD510, they can keep it. I'll stick with the trusty TomTom.....

Looking forward to the outcome of the RVC install MJW. From what I can see on their website the animated image is still on screen(lefthand side) at same time as RVC is on.

i thought the factory rvc on the b7 wagon was not a badge popper...
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

The picture on their website is only one example & I am told it all depends on the model, year, head unit combination which will determine coding required. Fingers crossed. He couldn't confirm whether they have done one for a MY12.5 as yet or not. I will be the test I suppose.

On sedans it is a badge popper, on wagons it is mounted at the numberplate light housing or thereabouts.

Ok everyone who is interested I got my RVC installed today & here are the facts.

                        1) It is a Kufatec module
                        2) Camera is mounted to the grab handle on the tailgate.
                        3) I can choose to display both optical park view & camera view simultaneously or camera view only.
                        4) Camera will only activate in reverse.
                        5) Can adjust picture colour, contrast or brightness.
                        6) Very clear view & can also see the towbar which is great for parking really close to objects
                        7) I can no longer activate the animated view optical sensors when forward parking but the sensors still beep.

I watched the guy install & he did a very neat job.

It's a shame that they used to crap kufatec module over oem.
