I am paying $542 for insurance on my Passat TDI Wagon Thats with free windscreen and a rental car and an agreed value of $50,000
Dont know if the Alltrack is more expensive to insure but its basically the same car with 4wd after all.
One thing I mean to ask Leaseplan re: their insurance quote is whether it takes any "good driver" , "no claims/no points" and other discounts into account. That said, we pay more that you do on our crap Magna! With LESS coverage! Makes me very unhappy with RACV!

All the insurance prices mean nothing as insurance is based on driver (age, sex, # of claims, etc), where the vehicle is garaged, claims in the area, etc.
I moved from Randwick street parking to Glebe with a garage & got a premium hike because Glebe is full of weirdos (something like that) then I moved to a very quiet little suburban enclave & thought my insurance would halve. Nope, because there are so many old people in the area, they are constantly having low speed bumps & making shedloads of small claims. Also, most of them are pretty well off & drive Mercs & Bimmers & Statesmans, etc so the claims are more than if they were all crashing Camrys. Plus I'm within 4km of a Westfields, so heaps of cars get stolen, which pushes up the area risk.
No point in comparing Insurance Premiums.

Interesting. Maybe I should have used our future new address as basis then. Some quiet little country town should have lower rates, one would think. Then again, from the criteria you listed below, they'll find any reason to keep them up.

Well I contradict your theory as I am well into retirement, live in an area that has a bit of teenage crime and have not had an insurance claim in 10 years and dont have much sex LOL
If your neighbors are so well off it would seem sensible not to make a claim and just pay for it themselves.
However your post code does make a difference to the premium.

Mate, they are really old - 80s & 90s. They are of a mindset that you just hand over the problems to the insurance company. Their excess is usually ~$800ish & a bump on an S-class or a 7 series is going to cost you $2k every day of the week. My wife bumped the front of her Mondeo - you could barely see what was wrong - $1800.

Well, thanks to paperwork when also having to go through both leasing company and employer, it took until yesterday, but I finally got the order confirmation! They're still promising delivery by May 1, 2013. I have my doubts...
Anybody (booba?) know when you can expect a VIN on a custom order, so I can start tracking?
I believe that it would be highly dependant on production schedules however to give you an indication, I ordered the car on the first week of April and didn't recieve a VIN till mid september.

Ouch. 5 1/2 months?! How much longer after the VIN did you actually get the car?
