Haha, I joked to the wife that i should go meet the boat and she was all weirded out then i my breakfast started repeating on me from the wrong end and she's all like "yeah that's a great idea, go and see the boat, you won't be able to do it again and it will be a special moment" to get me and my stinky butt out of the house.
Having done 120k in both a Adventra LX6 (2005-0 and a Volvo XC70 D5 (2008-12), I am in the target market for one of these. They look good, although I am enjoying the downsizing of a Tiguan at present. This is all a lot of people who buy things like Prado's need…

The Alltrack is available in the showroom now! Went to my local dealer and there is one grey one sitting there. I asked a few more infos. So here it is:
- The color options for the alltrack will be the same as standard Passt, but there will be a new color called "Tungstun Silver" (No! Not another silver ). Red will not be available as "it is not very popular in Australia".
- Beige interior is available. He even said woodgrain is available, but it is not on the option list. Either it is a no cost option, or simply his mistake, I don't know.
- All options (except wood grain) is the same as standard wagon. That means a gouging $3300 for anyone who wants Bixenon (that's me ). You also have the option of the sport's pack which costs $2800.
- None of the first shipments came with options. So if you want one now, you have to take the standard one. 6 months wait if you want options.
This is basically what I gathered from the dealer. However, most of them are not as well informed as us, so i would take it with a grain of salt. let's wait until the brochure is available on-line.
Not surprised about 6 months, that's kind of what I expected.
As for the gouging, yeah, that's the impression I got when I first read how extras will be bundled. Guess that's why they have the aggressive low basic price: they make up for it by forcing you to grab huge expensive packages even if you only want one feature from that bundle. I call it the Foxtel approach to selling.
I've mentally added about $8K for the extras I want, which still leaves the car cheaper than I originally feared, but I'm still ticked off that I'm having to get more options just for that single feature I want.

Just spoke to my dealer who also confirmed that if I wanted the Alltrack with Park Assist 2, Sunroof and seat memory, it won't be delivered until May. Not good for me because the wife goes on Maternity leave in March and we need a second car for then.

My " Ordinary" Passat has
Walnut Woodgrain was $300 on mine. It looks much nicer than aluminum
Driver assist and visibility (Xenons etc) was $2600
Sat nav and Park assist 2 and RVC was $3600, now mostly included
Adaptive cruise was $2000
Memory seats $1500
Electric tailgate $700
Mine has Desert Beige Nappa upholstery with black floor carpets

Yap! Beige has to come with wood! Aluminum just don't go well with beige.
The other thing with Alltrack is the leather is Vienna as in TSI instead of Nappa as in TDI. Since wood is not offered for TSI, I suspect it won't be offered for Alltrack.
I agree with Marakai, they threw in GPS and RVC and power tail gate, but they raise the Bixenon by $700! Still good value though.

That's disappointing. I was expecting the Alltrack to be a 125 highline with raised suspension and 4motion

Too early in the morning, but IIRC in the German brochures your fav combo was possible. Aussie consumers are, of course, far too unsophisticated to be given too many choices. Nanny state and nanny vendors know what's good for you, so hush!

/sarcasm off.
You can get Nappa leather, but its part of the $2800 sports package!

Which from German review threads is actually a good thing: sturdy, yet doesn't get as hot as leather (or feel as cold in winter if seat heaters aren't on). The sports seats are supposedly also better if you're tall with long legs.
