Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

There is always some amount of discount available, there may be limited number of cars. But that doesnt mean much to a dealer cause if they dont sell another dealer will. But in saying all that i dont think there is that much to play with as the dealers do stick together to some extent.

In actual fact I found it harder to find a dealer that would actually sell the car at the RRP as they would add charges for pearl paint and leather (idiots) even though the car comes with these std. Another one to watch out for is that they all seem to add LCT to the $64990 RRP for the sedan and $66990 RRP for the Wagon . However when you look at the vw price list it actually states that the RRP price includes GST and LCT. Now try getting a dealer to understand that one. See the VW link below.

        • I spoke to my dealer today. My R36 has been built, but hasn't been booked on a ship yet. She's expecting it to arrive in mid to late June, with delivery in late June or early July.

One caveat she told me about is that VW Australia might hold up deliveries until they're launched in Australia... if that makes sense.

          • If VW decide to sit on the cars once they hit Australia, they better be ready for some backlash. I for one will be making some noise...........what is it they say about the squeaky wheel

            • I definitely wouldn't take too kindly knowing my car is sitting in a yard somewhere, exposed to the elements, loosing the new car smell and most importantly depreciating for no good reason...
I think there will be a lot of noise generating if VW decide to do this.

              • If that happens I reckon we cancel all orders......that should send a nice clear message to VW lol.

My dealer rang me today to inform me that my fully loaded R36 wagon which I ordered last July is being made this week and should arrive in Brisbane on 24 June. I should therefore have it by mid July. He did mention that VW Australia may delay releasing it to some time later in the third quarter, perhaps aligning it with the August timing as mentioned by the VW Executives at the Brisbane motor show official R36 launch a couple of months ago.

                      e.g. "RRP R36 Sedan 64990, Sunroof 2990 = total 67980, I paid $65000 all up, a discount of $2980" etc etc...
$71.5k on the road for a fully optioned R36 wagon. This includes a fleet discount through work and other business referred to the dealer.

                      • Wish I was getting mine on a lease which would allow me to claim back taxes. I'm paying nearly $7000 in GST, $4300 in LCT and $3100 in Stamp Duty.........who else hates the government???

I can't justify doing the necessary kms to make the lease tax effective. I'd be lucky to do 10,000kms a year.

                            • With some R36's apparently already loaded on ships, surely you would think there are some already on the road somewhere in europe or at least germany. Has anyone found any new info/ video on the net, someone actually showing off their new R36? I can't wait to check out how they are going to perform on the road.
