Update won't happen till mid 2009 in Europe and be out by late 2009 in Europe and here early 2010.

America will be getting their own Passat that is being developed by Shanghai Volkswagen in China on behalf of VW America and China.

It will be bigger & wider than European Passat.

Figured as much. If the pics are anything to go by, I would prefer the current look R36. The headlights are just odd and don't seem to work in with the front nose. Presumable if we're getting the facelift in 2010, the R36 facelift will be another 6-12 months after that? Anyone know the timing in relation to the R32?

Surely if there is a model being manufactured inAsia then it will most likely be available here too due to lower costs for transport, faster delivery times etc?

Very glad that we are still getting the German made Passat not China's one.
Built quality is a lot better if made in Germany.

AMEN to that.... but you know these multi nationals... if they can save a dollar...

Its possible wouldn't rule anything out.
