It is neither, more like retrogradation.

I have just seen scetches of the NMS ,which will be the Passat replacement for America, built in America, and it looks very much better than this.
More like a bigger version of the forthcoming Jetta 6...but very aggressive.

Wow that looks bland, what are VW doing first the Jetta and now the Passat

Disappointed but this was a predictable outcome I guess.... graft on current VW design language just like Golf VI and slot in the current CC interior.... but to call it "all-new"?

I don't see any logical reason to consider updating our R36 with another Passat in the near future unless this is just a short-term update.

I have however selfishly breathed a sigh of relief that my by-then 1.5yr old Passat won't look completely outdated when this lands =)

I actually liked that new styling better than the old one... I guessed I never owned any VW prior to Golf Mk6 era, so the whole Mk6 design styling looks better to me...

yes but the styling suits the golf, which does look better than mk5. somehow they st*ffed it up on the passat.

              hopefully in the flesh....
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

He didn't design the Scirocco which I believe was penned by his Turkish Predecessor Murat Gunak. Walter redesigned the Scirocco when he took over. There was a thread showing the Scirocco pre Walter, and it looked a lot more aggressive than it does now.

"He replaces Turkish-born Volkswagen chief designer Murat Günak, and his first task was to re-evaluate the designs of three then-imminent Volkswagen models which had been penned by Günak: the 2008 Passat CC, the 2008 Scirocco, and the 2008 Golf."

VW was silly to let Murat go. His record speaks for himself. Golf MkV, Scirocco, Passat CC.

Plenty more pics, many which certainly look better than the first lot.

                          re: v6 model
Anyone know what features will be standard on the 2011 model over the 2010 model?

Also was looking at a 2010 v6 and ACC is NOT standard on the car and I cant upgrade it as its a factory fit.
What month build did the v6 have standard acc?
According to redbook there is only one 2010 entry and lists ACC as optional yet a few people here were saying its standard.

                          Any speculation about price?
I found a 2010 for about 68k the dealer is telling me the new one will not be discounted and will be 77k however the list price for the 2010 is about 57k so I dont see how they will be that much more expensive. Seems like he just wants to dump the 2010 but i only want it for a good price.

I think you might be confusing ACC with DCC, I think in the manual the Dynamic Chassis Control(adjustable suspension settings) is sometimes called Active Chassis Control, which is confused with Active Cruise Control (radar assisted cruise control).

The Dynamic Chassis Control was fitted to MY09 onwards V6 Highlines as standard (detectable by the chrome bars on the grill)

AFAIK Active cruise has never been standard, it is a $2000 option(plus LCT etc)

im talking about adaptive chassis control to control the suspension.
It is not standard on the highline AFAIK.
                              Looking at the auto model
Will have to look at the car tomorrow to see if it has it.

Only mention of chassis is adaptive chassis control and it is listed as optional.

I have 2010 passat brochure in front of me, which lists Adaptive Chassis Control and
15mm lowered suspension as standard on the V6 highline.
