well after our passat got written off we considered waiting for the new model ( briefly i must admit- plus we wanted a wagon: even longer wait)
given how the front looks i'm glad we didn't.
i prefer the look of the old one at the front.
maybe in the flesh it will be a different story. hope so for VW's sake.had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

Well, the Passat is essentially a Camry/Accord model made by Volkswagen. Just as a Golf/A3 is a Corolla with VW/Audi badge. So is it any surprise the Passat looks the way it does?
The new Passat looks good, but, yes it is conservative. It always has been, and always will be. This model is perhaps a little disappointing in its looks, but it's not bad enough that I wouldn't consider buying one if I had a need for a larger car. The model it replaces was hardly an avant garde design, either.
The Scirocco is probably the only current model in Volkswagen's line up that dares to push the envelope a bit.
