Finally received delivery of my R36 Wagon last Wednesday...been the longest 9 month wait of my life between placing the order and delivery!

Unfortunately, Dynaudio option which was ordered wasn't fitted (refund coming from dealer) annoying that the factory managed to not fit it that as per the order.

The car itself is MAGNIFICENT, have managed to put 1,500k on the speedo already. Had to drive from Sydney to Henty on the weekend (About 1 hour north west of Albury) The drive was excellent with regards to comfort and expectations regarding performance. The car easily cruised along @ 120kph and drove beautifully. Also had many admiring looks as we passed cars or were stopped at service stations along the way.

The wait was indeed worth it!

Congrats Dr Block. Glad to hear it was worth the wait. Post some pics when you get a chance.

Like you I will receive the car in September after waiting 10 months. Could be a record.

I have also ticked the Dynaudio box and I will be seriously cheesed if they do not fit it.

To be honest I think you are the 2nd person this has happened too which causes me to have serious concerns.

      What did your dealer say?

        Thanks Szikou,

I believe it also happened to Swallowtail, when I pointed out that it didn't have the Dynaudio system fitted, the dealer and sales rep went away for about 5 mins and then came back with my paperwork and admitted that it indeed should've been there and obviously wasnt.

The general sales manager apologised profusely and offered a refund of the Dynaudio (which I accepted) I'm just amazed that a company such as Volkswagen can be so sloppy when it comes to following a build order correctly during assembly of the car. Their controls and checks as cars are built seem to be deficient too say the least!

You'll love your car when it finally gets too you i'm sure. Will post some pics soon.

I'd put money on the dealer not filling in the order correctly rather than the factory not installing it.

Same here, and I'd be hitting them up for much more than an apology and refund.

After waiting for nearly a year and spending decent money on one of their flagship models it's a real shame they can't get the order right regardless of whether it is the dealer or Germany's fault.

I believe there may have been someone else on this forum where VW forgot to install their reverse camera.

Your only real recourse is to cancel the order upon delivery. But after waiting 6 - 12 months and to still have no car, what choice do you really have?

It's not like you can send it back to Germany to fix or order another car and wait another god knows how long.

Anyway if I was you Dr Block, I'd be going to a high end Car Audio Place, getting a similar system installed (if not better) and getting VW to pay for it. And on top of that I'd be getting VW to cover it under their warranty for 3 years (or 5 years if you take out extended warranty).

I agree with Rocket and Adrock, i reckon it's a dealer stuff up!. I'd be asking for a lil more than just the refund amount. But i guess you've got to be happy with the car all the same.

                Cheers,
                Jayse.

Have also scored some free servicing as well.

I see Alpine now have a VW specific fitment kit for their double din ( stock sized ) units at $129 in their winter catalogue online about page 6 from memory. Might be an option for a better than factory look for those without satnav?? Add that to some upgraded speakers and an amp....happy days!

Hey Dr. Block, just caught up with your post - contrats mate. You're finally part of the VW ownership crew. I bet you've put on a few more kays since.

Real shame to hear that they stuffed up your Dynaudio order, couldn't they retrofit it? (I would have insisted!) Anyway, the stock system should still be reasonable and I guess you can always upgrade later on. Let us know what your favourite feature about the R36 (stonking engine aside) is in due course.

Thanks Leagle...Apart from the engine, I'm a huge fan of the seats, extremely comfortable and rather toasty when the seat heater is engaged. It was a bummer having the Dynaudio left out, but the stock system isn't too bad and i'm enjoying the MDI with the Ipod.

Sounds like you are seriously enjoying the R36. I can relate to your comments about the seat heater, it really is one of those "options" that you don't care about when you don't have it but really love when you do. Perhaps thats why many Passats come with standard heat seaters!
