Cool, no problem. Noted... For when I start calling people tools, that it is acceptable forum behavior.

    Cheers!

LOL... it's all in the context rocket...

I reserve the right to apply the ban stick with as much or as little logic, reason, consistency or favour as I see fit, which will vary dependent on how much alcohol / sleep / noisy children I have been exposed to in the preceding 24 hours.

Right back at ya big fella. If you are gonna give it - you gotta be prepared to take it. Sulking is so unbecoming in a grown man.

Might be a good idea to ditch the holier than thou, self-righteous and down right offensive manner that you seem intent on flavouring every post with.

And please don't suggest that you are offering your views altruistically as there clearly is little motivation beyond your own desire for oneupmanship.

Finally if you are worried about the angst from the the minority, perhaps ask yourself how you got to be a spectator sport in the first place?

Yes, where is this one going? Down the drain? Or maybe a little off-topic?

Not to be personally attacked or to defend my views/opinions.
          Couple of points right there.
          1) Caring about the environment. It appears likely that our (i.e. humanity's) role in the current "climate change" is small, if at all existing. Much more dramatic changes have happened before the "sharp end" of evolution started roaming the earth. "Environment" however is a little bit more.

When you last visited Beijing, or any other large city anywhere (I'm mentioning Beijing because I've been there recently) you may have noticed that the air is not quite as clean as, say, in Canberra, or Melbourne on most days. I don't have to explain what it is, and how it happens (yes, cars do have a lot to do with it). BUT: that's environment, too. And for many people it's not particularly healthy.

I would consider your point of view as myopic and blinkered.

As for the price of oil, well, it will go up. Sure, you're not worried about $3/l, or 4 or 5, for petrol. But as you know oil (petroleum) is used for other things as well: pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides, and plastics. A lot of things that are not necessarily directly associated with the oil price will get more expensive. And everything that needs to be transported will get more expensive. So the quick trip to the supermarket suddenly costs a lot more. "Good riddance, if you can't afford it, it's your problem, not mine".

Familiar with Gen X and Gen Y? How about Gen I, or in a more familiar format, the iGen? From where I am you're a typical representative of that group (and you may not even have an iPod or iPhone - how weird is that?). That is, of course, my OPINION based on your posts - others may or may not agree with it.

          2) Personal attacks and defending views/opinions.
If you have to resort to personal attacks you've already conceded the argument so I don't think they're a great way to discuss things, particularly on a forum like this.
Defending views and opinions - isn't that what discussion is all about? You give the facts, I show you - using different data/information/sources, and personal experience - that there is an alternative view, and then you do the same back. Stick to the facts, don't make it personal. And in my opinion acronyms like LMAO are not particularly helpful.

I have a feeling (and Pana's post above seems to confirm this) that there is a morbid fascination on this forum regarding your reaction when someone expresses their opinion which does not coincide with your views.

We've seen this one before. Regarding "minority" and "childish argument and personal attacks": Nothing a long, hard look in the mirror can't fix.

When you write a factual contribution, Rocket36, I always find it informative and useful.
Stick to that, and you might find a huge reduction in perceived childish argument and personal attacks.

There you go, probably spent way too much time on this. Just my opinion that I'm happy to discuss/defend.

          Michael

OK let me sum it up as simply as I can so you understand where I'm coming from. Unless it DIRECTLY and adversely affects me, then I DON'T CARE. Selfish and narrow minded? ABSOLUTELY! But that's me...

My original post and subsequent posts about fuel capacity and efficiency are factual and there for no other reason than sharing information for those who might be interested based on my experiences. If the diesel fans start blowing their own trumpet about how much better efficiency they get, good on them! I certainly didn't start out with the intent of this being a p*ssing contest but the undertones of some responses to my posts have certainly come across as "mine's better than yours" blah blah blah. I DON'T CARE that a diesel is more efficient, if I did guess what? I'd probably drive a diesel. And it's THAT sort of thing that has gotten under my skin in this thread. Post facts, fine. Post nonsense about how much better it is to own a diesel because you think spending less on fuel is more important than performance and dynamics, environmental issues and political issues and expect things to start spiraling downwards. Post number 30 is what started all the nonsense, which just for a change was NOT mine. Followed by the dribble in post 33 about the environment and 4WDs. There seems to be a lot of people baiting for arguments these days - and I've been doing my best to avoid biting!

How do you drive a spur?

There you go, good to have that off your chest.

"Spur" or Black Spur - look it up some time. You might enjoy it.

that's the one - there's a lot of amazing roads up there - and not as busy as the Great Ocean Road (you also dont have all the european tourists driving on the wrong side either)

Also amazing to see the devastation from Black Saturday last year - haven't been up since June but it was quite sombre driving through Kinglake and the surrounding area.

Rocket, don't stop at Narbethong.... keep going, turn right to marysville, go through Marysville, turn right to Woods Point and then enjoy!! the road is not as populated as the Black spur, and when you have had enough you can come back to the Warburton turnoff and head back to Melbourne that way.

Just need to look out for a few bikes, and Police SV6 commodore utes...... yes, utes.
