OK so I could have maybe written that sentence a little better... But most people assume that to get RBT'd you need to be stopped. When I also said I wasn't stopped, I was meaning for any other reason.

And to me, all deisels sound like a truck! How much torque do you have? I have a nice 350Nm so I'm more than happy with that. And like I have said, other than the inconvenience of having to fill up more often than a diesel, there is no advantage for me. That said, I am continually impressed with the ever increasing quality of diesel options in cars. I could make the switch one day maybe. But I still want everything else the R36 offers in terms of dynamics, luxury (I can't praise the seats enough) and inclusions.

ROFL - you're normally the one pulling up people for not being clear enough !!! Congratulations on the bladder control as well (is that "any other reason"?) .

Torque? Not sure how much I have - for the Passat it's all on the interweb thingy but to save you searching: I also am more than happy with 350 Nm. Of course only 125 kW but it's all about in-gear (rolling) acceleration.

All diesels sound like a truck? Maybe you should get your hearing checked !! Hope you didn't get your soundsystem upgraded, would be a waste of money - LOL.

R36 seats? Spot-on, best seats I've ever been sitting in. I (half-heartedly) enquired into getting just one (driver's seat) into my car, never really followed it up. Anybody have a spare one?

Did you enjoy last night's fireworks from your Eureka Tower pad?

you probably wont have to wait too long for that anyway..

then we'll see if you're still happy with r36 fuel economy

Personally ( strictly only) ANY car i buy in future will need to be deliver excellent fuel economy AND be zippy as a matter of concern for the environment as much as for the drive.

And if i had my way all big 4wd would be banned ! ( oh dear that's likely to push a few buttons!). Of course that wont work- some people actually NEED them for off road stuff.
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

Yup - agreed. The top end power figures for road cars are meaningless. Although given I still enjoy track days it's nice to have the power for those.

Nope - hearing is fine. Just what they sound like to ME. Everyone's different. I can ALWAYS tell a diesel powered vehicle without even looking at it. As for the sound system, I have already explained at length why I think upgrading from the standard one is a waste of money. And it's nothing to do with my hearing. Although I'm sure if I heard Swallowtails car I'd want mine to sound like his, but that doesn't mean I don't think the money is better spent elsewhere (ECU, exhaust, BBS wheels just to name some options).

Good luck with that! But yeah... I've never sat in a better seat in a car. And that includes a recent ride in a 360 Modena Spider!!!

Actually I was at Federation Warf. Good thing too because I didn't realise there would be fireworks going off from the top of Eureka. But glad I closed the windows before I left! lol But Melbourne is SO much nicer than Sydney for any sort of festivities. You don't feel like a sardine, people are all friendlier, there's no putrid smog. Without the harbour, Sydney would be one of the worst places in Australia to live or visit! LOVING MELBOURNE!

Good! get the crap off the roads and have less people on the roads in general because they can't afford to fill up their cars. BRING IT ON!!!

Like I said, I'd be fine with $3 a litre. That's $180 for 60 litres which is more than I use in a week and $180 a week is sweet FA! Even when I had my 6 litre V8 Clubby, I was fine with potential $3 a litre. And the 308 I have also chews the juice and I'll still be running it. Can't afford it, don't drive. SIMPLE! I'll keep driving for a LONG time to come.

As for the environment, I couldn't give a toss. Humans have such a small impact on the environment anyway. Climate change has been going on steadily and drastically for hundreds of millions of years, mostly without humans around. Nothing we do can significantly impact the climate on Earth.

And that's why it's NOT up to you. LOL!!! Let people drive and own what they want. If they can afford it, good on them. There was a while there I owned three V8s and a motorbike with a total capacity of about 18,000cc. Why should anyone but me care about that?

All you need now is the 6 litre TDI truck engine from the Audi Q7. 368kw and 1000 Nm of torque in standard trim. and 0-100 in 5.5 in a 2605kg truck. Would be interesting in a CC or R36 and would probably run at less than 10l/100km. Uses 11.5 in the Q7
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

And would make it handle like a sack of **** given the almost 2 tons of engine in front of the front wheels LOL...

In that case (2000kg) engine, I will settle for my TDI 2.0 in the lightweight Q7 body which apparently on your reckoning, sans engine comes in under 600kg. LOL

Nope! I was saying that because I honestly don't give to sh*ts about the environment (human impact is nothing compared to the natural climate cycles that have been going on for millions of years) and couldn't care less if fuel cost $3 a litre.

Bottom line, I didn't buy an R36 because it was fuel efficient, I bought it because it was the best package for me. I just thought I'd share the fuel figures I experienced with others in case they were interested.

If all that makes me a tool, LOL!!! Then so be it I guess... Now, back in ya box!

As for the truck comparsion, give me a car to have fun in over a truck any day...

                      +1

but what kind of tool - a high end example like snap on with a lifetime guarantee or one of those 14pc spanner sets from the 2 dollar shop? Hmmm not sure cause even the cheapo ones at times can be useul, and aren't ever this annoying.

LMAO!!! Hilarious... How does not caring about the environment (because scientific FACT has proven we don't need to) and not caring about the price of fuel make someone a tool. Seriously, I'm keen to know. Disagree if you like - I don't care. But I posted this thread in the interests of sharing my experience with others that may be interested. Not to be personally attacked or to defend my views/opinions.

If you don't like what I have to say, nobody is forcing you to read it, or comment on it. Move on.

Feel free to close this Swallowtail - it's served its purpose AFAIK and once again a minority seem to be dragging the conversation into nothing more than a childish argument and personal attacks.

Seriously, so far it's all been fairly light hearted, so as long as it doesn't deteriorate any further then it can stay... I'm curious to see where it goes next!
