Yum, VMR Wheels are awesome!
And with the high Aussie dollar, it is a cheap, quality option too.

They come in 5x112 fitment so they should be perfect.
Also have various finishes that would look a treat.
The VMR V710's are probably the best looking wheles ever made in 5x112

I don't see the point in getting new rims unless you can get them to sit flush with the guards. if you were to stick with the std offset of +44 the rim would sit almost an inch inside the arch lip.
going to an 9" wide rim the offset range you want to be in is +30 to +35. Any higher than this (+40 etc) and the rim wont have enough clearance on the inside between the rim and the suspension.
Any lower than this and you will start having to worry about rolling guards.
If you do stick with an 8" rim width. try to get an offset closer to +20 to +30 to fill the guards more.
for an 8.5" rim go for +25 to +35
I use this calculator to work it all out...
EDIT: If you were to go for the 19x8.5" V710's the +35 offset would mean you will have 3mm more inner wheel clearance than std and they will extend 15mm further than the std wheels. would fill the guards pretty well.
If you wanted something more extreme though (Hellaflush yo!) the 9.5" option would have 8mm less inner clearance (leaves a few mm to spare) and it would extend an extra 30mm. this would fill the guards really well, depending on tyre size you may need to lip the rear guards though but not sure.Last edited by oxymoron; 03-12-2009, 10:40 PM.

The 19x8.5 is what I'm looking at. And if the offset is 44 wouldn't it there be possible scrubbing issues by going to 35?
[EDIT] I see what you're saying. I just used the calculator to work it out (like you did). So compared to the standard 8 inch wide 44mm offest, the 8.5 inch wide would have 3mm more clearance on the inside of the rim but be 15mm closer to the guard. That's the concern for me - scrubbing. Is there that much room to play with? I just don't know.Last edited by Rocket36; 05-12-2009, 01:09 PM.

Also Rocket, consider getting your guards rolled by a professional which will add those precious mm's that you will need to avoid scrubbing!80,000km 1997 MK3 VR6 manual for sale - www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f23/80-000km-1997-manual-vr6-nsw-sydney-67658.html
