sorry, i was vague...once this was done, pick it up and take it direct to the Dealer rather than sit in their holding yard for 3/4 working days....Cheers

                R36 Sydney bound

My VIN was immediately available with the contract. Car lands on dock in Sydney October 4. Told 6-10 working days on dock before release and then another 4 days for the paint protection/tinting etc. Land in Sydney from Shanghai October 19 - hopefully she'll be ready for the drive back (the long way!) to Canberra.

I would read the thread about paint protection before spending my money it. I did the Zaino thing and WOW what a difference.

Dont waste your money on paint protection it is a SCAM. You might as well buy a bottle of snake oil to protect the leather too

Ming and all that other rubbish is the icing on the cake for the dealership!

Have a look at this link:

Tiguan site but gives you some information on paint protection etc.
Do your research first before paying out good money on the dealers pack, it is all down to your personal suitation but even if you want the treatment as offered going across the road will save you money then letting the dealer help you out.

Re leather i have been putting Meguirs leather cleaner /conditioner on the Beige leather and it seems to work - the leather cleans up and feels way more supple. a chore though as its quite thick and viscous. Recommended if the leather needs a bit of cleaning.

If the leather is already clean ( my car not the wifes) i use natuzzi leather conditioner which is also far easier to apply as its virtually milk consistency.

Don't know - my sales guy was looking through a list of consigned vehicles destined for oz. I recall there not being many too choose from. Fortunately there was a grey with satnav and sunroof.

Ok, sounds like your car already existed, which would explain the availability of the vin, upon signing the contract.

I was told last week that my vin should be available to me by the 7/9/09. This is for a car scheduled for delivery end of November. I'll be making a phone call on Monday...I'll be a little more excited once I have that number fingers crossed.
                                Cheers, John
