This forum was once populated by reasonable people. Over the last few months a disruptive element has crept who lack of respect for other posters. As soon as one starts some of the others seem to arrive out of nowhere to encourage them.
Kind of turns you off posting anything because you know a different opinion will just turn into an attack.
Now there's nothing wrong with that as long as you don't turn around and ridicule others giving their opinions
Honestly, I don't think that's possible. Voicing my opinion on this forum has never been more pointless. Certain users offer some of the most unnecessarily aggressive and puerile responses to opinion or fact that I've encountered on the Internet.
Infractions given unfortunately for some of the rubbish posted here. Argumentative behaviour of this type is putting people off posting here - I don't think anyone wants that.
It's funny, I'd have thought Passat drivers would be a little more mature given the target market. Shame that seems to not be the case.
As 2muchcoffeeman puts it - no-one is interested in reading pissing contests. If they persist heavier sticks will be used, including bans. We are all over the confrontational behaviour that some seem to think is OK in this forum. Get over yourselves...

We just had the lease company replace them on one of our cars which is a BMW 120d and they cost about $700 per tyre. Then only to get a puncture about two weeks later=another new tyre!
We replaced a full set on SWMBO's 120 and it was around $500 per wheel. but given there is no spare, the only option was a can of that "instant seal" stuff in the car. I did not want to risk SWMBO being stranded somewhere so I paid the price.
ContiSeal supply and fit quotes are quite a variation in pricing, ranging from $595 (country dealer) to $659 and $669 at the two metro dealers for a Passat CC

I reckon I'll stick with the run flats for now....

It's only because they're new and on limited models. Continental sell them for under $50 extra over the standard tyre and handling is around the same as the standard tyre and these rank up near the top of all the performance tyre reviews.
As more models start coming out with them they'll start selling more into the country and prices will drop.
My concern is that most people are lazy and won't check their tyres so may drive around for quite a while without realising there is a problem.
Sorry, don't know how to put the picture into the post....
