I realise silver doesn't show as much dirt as other colours but ONLY 5 TIMES IN A YEAR.
    I couldn't live with myself.

Then I probably shouldn't say I've only washed the wheels 3 times. They've developed a permanent shadow chrome effect :p

I used to care about my cars, especially when I had my Black XR6T, spending most weekends detailing it which took 6+ hours. Now I have a kid to spend time with, a car I only get to drive on weekends and a lawn to mow, cleaning the car doesn't get much of a priority.. If I'm honest, neither does the lawn

I dont think there is a bad colour in the R36's
Ive got BB and IMO looks great in the evening--it kinda shimmers
Ive seen the Icelandic grey equiv in a golf and looks very classy too

Why not a nice bright red option, like the Golf GTIs? And not just on R36s, how about on standard Passats as well?

After all, red cars go faster...

I was originally intending on candy white but then I discovered icelandic grey and havent looked back. I do like the white but it had a little of the 'sales rep car' about it IMHO. Icelandic grey is a great colour although it does show the dirt much more than silver. I came from a silver car previously and really do prefer the darker colour and it sets off the chrome and aluminimum bits much better. In different light the icelandic grey does change from an almost gun metal grey to a blue steel colour.

I think you really need to see them in the flesh to be comfortable with your choice.

I kinda know where you're coming from. I've had a company car for the past 2years and it doesn't get much attention in the cleanliness department (unless my GM flys in ) . It's a POS VZ Commodore wagon so I'm not exactly passionate about the damn thing.

I used to wash my personal cars every 2 weeks and spend hours on them much as you used to do but 2 kids, a new home and water restrictions put and end to it just after I sold my 300C.

Still, when I get the R36 I'll have my 2 water tanks up and running and my kids are old enough now to be able to "help" in their own way so I'll tend to the car every 3-4 weeks. I'll also be taking it to Final Inspection every 6-8 months for a proper detail.
I used to get a great deal of satisfaction out of cleaning my cars....much to my wifes annoyance (why can't you spend that much time cleaning around the bloody house?? - said in a real whingy voice ). She's kinda right though.

Fantastic feedback from everyone & some of those pics were great. OK, I'm still totally confused but have ordered the Icelandic Grey sedan today. Damn hard though when I haven't seen one in the flesh so I've having second thoughts about changing it to Silver & just sticking with what I know & not risking it.

I'll ring around to all the other Melbourne dealers & see if they have something in a R36 Icelandic I can look at. If any of you know of where one is located please drop me a note here.

                    Thanks!!!

P.S. Got home, told the wife I ordered a car, showed her which one on the VW website & she caught a fleeting glimpse of the CC. Says to me "I hope that's the Passat you ordered!?" I mentioned that it had only 4 seats & she then says I never have more than 4 people in the car anyway. She has a point there but it was just last week she trying to convince me t get a wagon for the extra space... Bloody hell, you can't win!

I didn't get the chance to really choose a colour for mine but if I was able to choose I probably would of gone for the Icelandic Grey, it is a nice colour. Here are a couple of pics that I've found.. I'm sure you'll like.

They are a great car and awesome drive

By the way, what's the price you got it for and with what specs?

What is the colour in this post then, http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...=24679&page=2? Clearly different to the above pics.

It does appear to be different but IG is still available here.

Personally,I am a big fan of Reflex Silver.
The car will always look good, even if it is dirty or has a few scratches, and it is a classic colour, which works well for VW s ,with all their chrome trimmings.
