Hm... where does one get this firmware upgrade?

I took my car to the dealer about five weeks ago and they couldn't find any issues... they also couldn't see a problem with the stupidly irritating dash squeak either!

Sigh... looks like too much of a pain in the arse!

I can't even find out which version firmware I have without spending a bunch of money on a product I'm not likely to use much... no thanks!

(Although I seem to remember somehow finding the firmware details once before, but I can't find out how to do that again through the clutter on Google!)

Er it's not that hard.. mine came with 1100 and unless you're is fairly recent may have the old firmware (does the volume have a soft backlight when you adjust it or fade it down?).

Pretty easy to download the upgrades from Mav's links.

I just found my version number - gotta have the key in the ignition - 1020.

It's been so long... did the RNS510 come with a DVD or copy of the maps it's loaded with? I can't find one in the manual, or in the box-o-crap I keep for and about the car. It may be in a safe at my parents place, though.

              Hmph.

It *should* have. But a lot of dealers don't. My personal (unverified) belief is that some of them buy one, and use it to load on new systems (as they won't come from Germany with Aus map DVDs), then they don't have to buy map DVDs from VWA for each sale, thus making them selves an extra $1000 on each one.

The license on each DVD though is for ONE installation so multiple nav map installs from a single DVD is illegal. If that is what they are doing and someone finds out for sure then it should be reported.

If you don't get one, jump up and down and demand one - you have paid for it.

Just found the DVD in my folder of important DVD's not to lose I keep in the office... the maps are version 1, but I guess that's good enough...
