LOL.. yes. Originally you had to splice them into the wiring harness at the back of the stereo. The PnP ones come with a a quadlock socket at one end of the harness and a quadlock plug at teh other end, so you take the big quadlock connector out of the back of the stereo and just plug the new bit inline.

Yes, there are polish sellers on ebay selling them complete with PnP harness for about AU$500 - $600. I just bought one... Not here yet though.

Kris you are far from alone there... it is confusing! VAG produce a BT kit that is colloquially known as the Skoda kit, or the 9w3, or the 729A, 729B, 729C or 729D. They don't sell it here, which is weird, cos it's probably the best all-round BT package for VWs. Have a read through the post I've linked to a few posts up - that should shed some light...

Dcashion - functionally once the Fiscon or Skoda kits are installed they work identically, with the exception that the Skoda kit gives you voice activated dialling... install is fundamentally the same for each, although the Skoda kit coming with a genuine mike probably lends itself to you placing the mike "properly" in the ceiling center console, where my Fiscon's mike is just neatly placed on the steering column. And yes, the Polish ones are now coming with a PnP harness. One potential concern is that some people's PnP harness has only been mono wired, so if you want to play BT audio (A2DP) it will be pretty ordinary unless you mod the PnP harness.

I'm thinking the Fiscon is a much easier and proven option, but just doesn't have voice activation which I can live without.

The eBay ones from Poland look good but I just don't know about them, the price is good however and they are P'N'P!

I will be selling my Fiscon shortly, as I have ordered one of the Skoda Bluetooth units (as it has voice control, which I decided I would like).

Where can I find info on these???

I had I beleive the UHV low kit that came from Harding Performance. The first one worked with the iphone 100%, but didn't intergrate with the MFD. I then dumped the iphone and went to a BB 9000. The 2nd unit from Harding still didn't work with the MFD so I ditched that as well now have the Fiscon unit it's all good except phonebook sorting is weird! Don't know if it works with the iphone, can't see why not.

Just wanted to thank you up front for your clear and accurate information about this. Took delivery of a new VW Tiguan yesterday (from a Brisbane dealer) only to discover that the Premium Bluetooth that they assured me would work with the iPhone 3G, was not installed because they only **just** discovered otherwise. This is quite frustrating as I have asked many times about this and you'd think that they would know all about this issue and provide accurate information for their customers. So I'm glad I found your post with the information about the Fiscon unit.

I notice that earlier in this thread, gripmoto said that his Premium Bluetooth is '100% working" with the iPhone. I wonder what is going on here? I wonder which unit he has ...

Also, do you have the MDI/ipod adapter? When I plug the iPhone to it I get a message saying something along the lines of "accessory is not compatible with the iphone please switch into airplane mode". It also does not charge the phone and I suspect this may have something to do with it.

What do you do with regards to charging your iPhone in the car?

Graymalkin - no probs... just as well they saved you the money LOL... the VW supplied Premium system won't work with an iPhone. Have a look here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=31461 for more info on options. Whilst it's talking about the RNS510 it basically applies regardless, although without the RNS510 or RCD510 I don't think you get on screen display, but just display in the MFD (in the instrument panel).

Austral should know better, as it is a conversation that has been had with them many times, including with me...

Can you please tell me a couple more pieces of information - do you have the iPod adapter or an MDI? They are different... The MDI does charge the iPhone, even with the message, which is normal for a lot of non-Apple accessories I believe. You just select NO to the flight mode question, and it charges anyway, and works fine. Also what head unit / stereo do you have? And is your MFD display red or white?

The advanced Bluetooth kit needs an RSAP capable phone, which the iPhone is not. Google "iphone rsap"...

The basic VW bluetooth isn't worth the money, as it doesn't integrate with anything in the car (i.e. RNS510, dash display), and is very limited functionality. Don't bother.

I have ordered my R36 w/o Bluetooth and am planning on fitting one of the Fiscon units (www.kufatec.de). I have also ordered the MDI unit to enable full iPod functionality for my iPhone with the RNS510 (artist display, etc).

It also supports A2DP, which the iPhone will from software 3.0, due later this year, so it will then also play audio over Bluetooth.

its a hit and miss affair with both my ( nokia e61) and wifes nokia (basic something) - sometimes it just doesnt work and everything must be reset.

pretty hopeless - rip off for $800.00!

I agree that the price is terrible...
but all I wanted to be able to do is make and mostly answer calls when I'm driving. I recently bought a Tiguan, and got the VW basic (Nokia one) installed. Paired with my iPhone with the salesman during the delivery / hand over... and works seamlessly!!!!


I can't seem to pair my work Nokia 6085 though!?!!?! Very frustrating!!!

No fool would buy the premium kit without a phone capable of using it.

And you are seriously telling me that there won't be times when an ignorant salesman sells the option to some unsuspecting punter who has never heard of rSAP (and why should he when BT has been around for so long, and just about every other car worth buying has a BT system that will work with any bt phone)? There are a lot of people out there who have bought expensive vehicles and then found out that their phone doesn't work... some of them I am sure are fools, some of them I am sure have made an honest mistake, others I am sure assumed that a reputable car company selling a premium car bt kit would work with their 'normal' bt phone...

The VW dealer I went to point-blank told me that the basic system is crap and don't bother, and that the premium system that is coming they are reluctant to sell because so many phones won't support it. They are suggesting buyers look at other options including units like the Fiscon.

Nokia is the primary phone manufacturer that has got behind rSAP, which is probably because it was their idea.

I'm intrigued too by your comment that the iPhone (as opposed to any of the other hundreds that don't) doesn't support rSAP because of copyright issues... can you please provide support for that statement.

One thing I agree with you is that rSAP will become more common. However I think it is the height of stupidity for a car manufacturer to use a system that ONLY supports rSAP when it is not yet that widely a standard.

And you haven't answered my question on your reliability statement.
