  • Faulty Stereo in R36 with DynaAudio

    Hi,
I have a fault in my stereo in my R36 only 3 months old. The problem has been intermittent since I took delivery of the car.

I was wondering if anyone else may have experienced the same problem.

At least once a day, sometimes twice the speakers at the top of the doors on both front and back seats do not work at all. I believe these are the tweeters. The result is very poor sound quality as there is no top end and is bassed out. Even adjusting the treble/mid/bass does not resolve the problem.

The only way I can fix the problem is too stop the car, making sure the stereo is on a radio talk station, take the keys out of the ignition for a few seconds, then put them back in and turn stereo back on. Even this procedure needs to be repeated several times occasionally.

While I know how to rectify the problem, it's still difficult for me to replicate on the spot. The car is going in for the V6 recall on Tuesday. I'm hoping they'll be able to rectify the stereo problem too but I have concerns that since it is intermittent, and computer may say no, that it will not be fix.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I guess it's either a wiring fault maybe when dynaudio was fitted at factory or faulty head unit.

    Thanks

sorry no answer....its a dissapointing thing to hear, especially coupled with the recall, and theplanner's problems with startup and seats etc...

Did it again this morning, this time after working at the start. Seemed to happened after I had the radio on for some time. This time I needed to leave car of for about 20 minutes before it fixed itself.

Another problem yesterday, the left park light remained on after I stoped the car, got out and locked the car. When I got out of the card there was a chime seeming to indicate somthing like lights on. When I got back in the car I turned lights from auto to offr and the park light still remianed on. Light only went off after I started the car again.

was your indicator in the on position? sometimes this is used as a way of leaving one parking light on in european cars...

this is a feature not a fault! You most likely left your indicator on after turning into a car park

It's possible I left the indicator on.

Anyways car went in for recall today and I was able to demonstrate stero fault to at least two personel at the dealer. Let see what they come up with when I go to pick it up.

They had a R36 on show at the dealer. I noticed that the dials have changed temp/fule etc. Not sure I like the new styling.

Are you able to clarify this further please?

The temp and fuel dials which used to be under the mfd, have now been repositioned - one is in the tacho dial, and one is in the speedo.
The mfd looks a bit bigger now, and is illuminated in white (instead of red).

see i am a fan of the new dials as well. the red was to audi looking i thought (even if everything looks like it was ripped out of one).
