yes well, this kit aint premium.

actually i would decribe it as a piece of SH****T for the money. Not happy Jan.

I can get it to work with my phone ( nokia E61) but i cannot hang up from the phone or steering wheel properly: bluetooth stays active and i can no longer get radio etc!! (just white noise.)

to fix this i have to go into the phone bluetooth and disconnect: so next call i get on the phone and i havent worked out how to transfer to back to the car.

I am having similar but different issues with my wifes simpler nokia.

I guess with a lot of stuffing around i will work it out.

So anyone contemplating this option... be warned.
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

For what it's worth, my dealer told me the same thing re setting off airbags.

i have at least half sorted the hanging up problem. you need to hang up from both the phone & the steering wheel. Then press and hold the steering wheel button a further 2 seconds to disengage the active bluetooth between the phone and car.

once you've worked this out for yourself the instructions sort of explain this.

still not impressed but this solves a major problem!

Bluetooth Kit for Passat MY09 Australia

I have the passat with the RCD 510 sterio and dealer installed bluetooth and I also am very disappointed with the kit.

Can anyone tell me what make the unit is that they install ie Parrot or Nokia and model number if they have it.

Or is this some crazy one off type device?

Logzy pointed me at this that he has... http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...lf-5--Gol.html that works with his Golf's RNS510 and the MFD. I then found this for the Passat that I am looking at buying (want to know whether to buy it with factory BT or not) - http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...sic-Plus-.html This apparently integrates MFD, RNS510, bluetooth, etc, but still is the basic BT not rSAT that a lot of phones don't work with. It doesn't work with the new white display though, but according to Kufatec -
"there'll be a new version available in about 1-2 months that supports the white display. the rns510/rcd-510 will work - this has nothing to do with the instrument cluster."

I've had many "integrated" bluetooth kits across the cars I've owned and found them all to be lacking in features and funtionality. The prices that the dealers ask for them are also utterly outrageous (much the same as the ridiculous prices they charge for window tinting - $450-$480 )

I've had to turn to high end headsets to get decent audio quality and reliability. Sure you don't get some of the features of the integrated systems (when they work) but my current BlueAnt V1 is outstanding. My old Alif Jawbone was also a beauty.

Come on VW, it cant be that bloody hard to fit a system that actually works and is worthy of the cars they are being installed in. If Merc, Audi, and BMW can do it so can you. And if your going to charge $700+ for the damn thing then make sure it has full calender function, contacts syncing and SMS syncing.

Bluetooth Units installed by Australian Dealers

I have no confirmation from the dealer very unhelpful and don't even know there own products. But on doing some research I am fairly certain all they have installed is a Nokia CK-100 unit.

                units are under $200.00

So the near $600 dollars for installation for less than an 1 hrs work amazes me!

Amazes yes, but it doesn't surprise me.

Has anybody found a solution to a fully integrated bluetooth for the RNS-510?? I have read up on the Fiscon unit but can't find a supplier / installer in Melbourne. Any one had a fully integrated unit retro fitted and can recommend???

Cheers thanks for that I will call them and see how I go. Also received a reply from Advanced Ice who informed me to get it installed by someone with VAG COM or he mentioned my dealer (they can also code the system) is also a preferred supplier / installer of Fiscon units.

                        Thanks.

VW Essendon is the dealer he mentioned. I have called the service guy and also emailed my sales guy requesting a quote - they have not yet replied. He also mentioned he had another installer who had VAGCOM but referred me back to my dealer and said he could refer me elsewhere if I had no luck at Essendon.

Might get back to him and ask for the second option. Will let you know how I go.

                            Cheers.

Finally got my dealer to confirm they do install an aftermarket bluetooth unit that was "much better" than the VW factory option. Cost was $990-. Only problem was he didn't know what type of unit it was!!!! I had also called Adrian from No Limit and think I may get him to do it for me ($850- installed). May also get DTV receiver installed into RNS and rear seat dvd player for the kiddies.
