  • High resistance sensor 2

    Hi all,
Having some euro gremlins (surprise surprise) on my V6 AWD CC

Fuel gauge drops out while driving.

Code from mechanic scan tool: B105A1B
"Covering for fuel level indicator sensor 2 Resistance too high"

Sounds like an issue with the fuel sender.

I'm led to believe that there are two senders. Anyone know which one is Sensor 2?
    LHS or RHS?

    Thanks

yes there are 2 sensors as the fuel tank is split over the haldex.
I can't remember which one is which but you can easily figure it out by a process of elimination:
Unplug one of them and then test the fault - if you get a new one for fuel sender one then it's the other sender...

I was hoping to avoid this as I'd have to pull out the back seat. I just wanted to know which part to order so that my mechanic can fit it.

It's very easy to take the seat out.
They are different parts on each side as one is integrated with the jet pump.
So you don't want to get the wrong one.

Grab the bottom front part of the seat and lift it up.

Thanks for that. That back seat really does come out easily!
I've cleared codes and unplugged the passenger side sensor (LHS).
Gives me the code "Fuel Level Sensor 2 B1058 1B - Resistance Too High".

Seems to be the same code.

Part number on the sender is "3c0919673B"
looks to be about $300 on eBay for a new one delivered. Installing it might be outside of my skill set, looks like a custom tool is required.

Got the sensor replaced and now my fuel tank is no longer reading full. Gets to about 5/8th and stops.

My mechanic isn't sure what's going on.
                Any ideas?

Ok just got some readings on a full fuel tank via VCDS

                  Sender 2 30 ohms (replaced)
                  Sender 1 260 ohms (original)

Seems like sender 1 has also crapped out? Is that possible?

It seems like the replacement part for sensor one is 3c0919673A
Does anyone know if this is the same as 3c0919673?

If I don't reply by Wednesday remind me.
Will check supersession part numbers for you but I'm out now
