  • Things to look out for 2018 Arteon

    Hi all,

Been a while since i got back into a VW. Looking to purchase a 2018 Arteon with 110,000km. Are there anything of concern that I need to be aware of? Thank you heaps in advance for the advice.

My quick snapshot of things to check:

Service history re: (oil changes, DSG and Halex fluid changes and all standard service items)
Water pump - the Achilles Heel of the EA888 - will require replacing as some stage
Suspension - take the car for a good test drive over uneven ground, speed humps, car park entries/driveways etc and listen for clunks, squeaks, rattles and groans. Strut mount bearings can become noisy, and the front lower control arm bushes are a known issue.

If it's got a sunroof, check the exterior trim around the sunroof for cracks.

            AMEN TO THAT!

I've been on the receiving end of flooded sunroof drains, wet BCM and electronics, and a dead car for a few days. Not fun at all

Check for cooling leaks. VW in general is notorious for leaking water pump/thermostat housings. Had mine replaced at 90k.
