Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Is it just me, or are all these devices marketed heavily toward 4x4's locally? Worst case I'll take it to my local shop.

I'm keen to hear how it all goes once you get it installed - been considering the evcX

Ya will defs post here on how it goes. Looks promising from what I've researched. I already have a tune on the car as well as performing the "Audi" mod via OBDeleven, but the throttle still feels doughy to me.

I vaguely remember having to flex/bend it in an awkward way to get it out past the pedals...
There's also the OBD port to pop out and a plug for the footwell light.
Swearing at it may or may not help too.Last edited by nermal; 27-06-2023, 09:10 PM.2018 Arteon R-Line - Black, Sunroof, Dynaudio, 20" Wheels, RacingLine: Stage 2 ECU+DSG|380mm BBK|Intercooler+Hoses|Oil Cooler|R600 Intake|Adjustable Front Droplinks|Dogbone Insert|Subframe Brace+Alignment Kit|Propshaft Alignment Kit, Milltek: Zirotec Downpipe, Harding: Front+Rear Sway Bars|Rear Droplinks, Other: OSRAM Dynamic Indicators, EvcX Throttle Controller, 034 (RED) Coil Packs, Various Carbon Bits

Just got it installed. For anyone that is still hesitant on this, Get. It. Done.
It really does wake the car up. I wouldn't suggest buying anything too fancy as you'll most likely find one setting (for me it was U3 on the evcX) you like and stick with that.
Gone are the days of that slight bit of anxiety you feel when the car needs to do a 1.5 second ramp before you merge on to traffic. Overtaking is a breeze now as well.
I have a ECU tune, DSG tune, OBD mods done such as the "Audi" mod and "Throttle Response" mod done, and they have had negligable results when it came to throttle respone. That doughy ramp up was always still present (although the response IS better after the aforementioned mods), but i feel that after installing the throttle controller it really does bring everything together and gives you the feel that you want. Absolute night and day difference - I know some people have claimed that the "Throttle Response" mod or "Audi" mod makes a clear difference, but no, not like this.

Thanks, yeah I'm in the same boat you were in with having an ECU+TCU tune with OBD mods, but nothing seeming to fix the "doughy ramp up".
This video really helps demonstrate why.. you can see how lazily the throttle opens with the OEM throttle map:
I asked an APR rep on a US forum about anti-theft/lock mode and it seems that it's achievable by selecting a custom map with zero throttle and then removing the controller.
After thinking about it, I'll probably just shop around for an evcX - should have just bought one while they were on sale at Autobarn!Last edited by nermal; 29-06-2023, 04:11 PM.2018 Arteon R-Line - Black, Sunroof, Dynaudio, 20" Wheels, RacingLine: Stage 2 ECU+DSG|380mm BBK|Intercooler+Hoses|Oil Cooler|R600 Intake|Adjustable Front Droplinks|Dogbone Insert|Subframe Brace+Alignment Kit|Propshaft Alignment Kit, Milltek: Zirotec Downpipe, Harding: Front+Rear Sway Bars|Rear Droplinks, Other: OSRAM Dynamic Indicators, EvcX Throttle Controller, 034 (RED) Coil Packs, Various Carbon Bits
