Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 12 month service due - anywhere to recommend / avoid in Sydney?

I have to book my first VW service soon, and after a poor salesroom experience I used a broker to ship a car up rather than buy local - so no association with a local dealer exists.

I expect they are all pretty similar for servicing & will angle to overcharge & add extras. I wonder if anyone has a good / bad experience to consider for where I should book in, I will be looking around North sydney / Chatswood by default but will travel a bit if needed to avoid bad reps.

    thanks

It's about 25 minutes from you, but BWA did some good work for me when I was living in Sydney, always very professional.
They are also a site sponsor, so let them know you're coming from here

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

that’s all you should be paying at a dealer. No need for add ons and extras

Also , are there any common issues I should know to check for before it goes in & have them attend to?
I don't hear any creaks or rattles like I seem to have noticed on some threads.

you’ll only hear the complaints. The vast majority of owners with nothing bad to say, stay silent.
