Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I am thinking of coming back to the VW fold. I am currently considering a Touareg 2021 CR TD V8.
Currently I have a 2012 LR D4 Discovery which has been one of the best and reliable I have owned since new. After 316000km I may be facing big bills soon.
After a lot of research it was between a Range Rover Sport TDV8 or the Touareg, which so far is the lead contender. I now do not need low range as I have done the outback twice and my travel is usually confined to the highway. Lack of decent spare is my only concern.
My local indie (ex VW service manager) knows of no negatives with the engine and will be looking after it as well.
    Keen to hear all views.

Those who get out and and live, and enjoy life's many experiences are wealthy people.

Wow, did I read correctly 316,000 km WITHOUT issues? You must have a very good relationship with your mechanic/tech.

Re the Touareg, if I could suggest you introduce yourself on Club Touareg Australia & New Zealand | Club Touareg Forum
There is a local Australian area with some very helpful CR owners who would be more than happy to provide you information.
