  • Gear shift paddles on steering wheel?

Hi everyone, new to the forum here!

I have an MY11 Tiguan 125TSI and would very much like to have gear shift paddles on my steering wheel. Has anyone here swapped their steering wheel to an R-Line version or something similar? Is it safe to do? Is it a simple plug and play solution? (not planning to do it myself)

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Google is your friend:

Most of the pictures are missing as is the case with many older posts, so look for an archive site like the Wayback Machine that might have an archive with the pictures intact.

Yes can definitely be done. Make sure you get a Mk6 Golf wheel (not Mk7) as the buttons on the Mk7 wheels are not compatible with older cars.

You'll likely need the airbag as well as the wheel as the stock Tiguan wheel has a different shape airbag to the Golf wheels. You may be able to find a Passat wheel that uses the same shape wheel/airbag as the Tig. But if you're changing wheels the flat bottom ones in the GTI/R are really nice.

That looks really good and its the exact same steering wheel style I have in my tig, did you take it in to a workshop to get reprogrammed?
