The Spare wheel

i know this has come up before but ,ive been offered a full size spare that could fit my Tiguan off a Passat
its a 235/45/17 but as my car is a 235/55/17 i know the circumferance might be slightly smaller but could it cause any damage ? i could remove the tyre and fit the right one but as its only a spare and might never be used .would it be ok ?

might throw up a "flat tyre' message on the MFD as the computer uses individual wheel speeds to determine if a tyre has gone flat. If the spare tyre has a different diameter then it will rotate at a different speed to the others.

but considering it'll only be used as a spare for short periods of time i don't see it being a huge issue.
