Been offered some cheap 5x112 16" caddy wheels, will they fit on a Mk7 Golf?

I spoke to VW today as I know Dynaudio is being offered in some 2018 Models and it wasnt offered in My 2017 Passat R- Line, VW advised that it can not be installed as is only factory fitted at the time of making of the vehicle

its a 235/45/17 but as my car is a 235/55/17 i know the circumferance might be slightly smaller but could it cause any damage ? i could remove the tyre and fit the right one but...
