Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've heard last quarter (one dealer told me October specifically).

called the dealer, and it's coming end of this year.

      No specific time.

Not sure if it;s worth waiting for.

Yes I've heard last quarter and Sept/Oct. I think it may depend on how well the current model sells out prior to the new model launch. Expect some nicely priced/optioned runout specials before then.

Yes there maybe some dealers with tempting deals on run out Tiguan. VW will play that game close to it's chest as I believe they will turn current model supply off.

But I would be reluctant to buy a last of this current series Tiguan just on price, because I feel that the new MY16 Tiguan has so much more to offer, and yes it will be a waiting game. Looking at the way car pricing has gone over decades, with nearly every new being better specified and almost price similarly.

But The Geneva Motor Show is days away, surely VW will leak more news on the MY16 Tiguan! The new Tiguan. And the new Tiguan is available in Euro from April 2016? I really like the look of it and new specs too are in it's favour!

The last 2 generations have had first shipments in October/November, roughly 6 months after the EU launch.

The problem is that you are generally stuck with what the dealership/VW AU order and if you want something that isn't fully loaded you are going to have to order and wait another 3-4 months.

The new Tiguan for Australia will most likely be a MY17 and will be built after mid July. Deliveries to be from mid October onwards as it takes that long for them to arrive in Aus after being built.

The dealers will order in May/June for their allocations in October and yes as per V's comments will be dealer spec stock. If you want something special you will have to wait till October to place your order and then wait 4 months for it to arrive. I will possibly be doing that although I'd want a 2017 build.

Anyone know whether the diesel variants will still have the (now tainted) EA189 engine, or whether they'll use the EA288?

It'll be using the MQB platform engines. Take you pick of the engines in the Golf/Passat/Octavia for an idea as to what is going to be on offer. I imagine that VW Aus will pick the same engines that are already being brought into the country to keep parts/spares/warehousing costs down. We'll have a better idea in the next couple of months as to the engine options once the RVCS approvals have come through.

Yes please, to the TDI two-liter bi-turbo diesel engine with 240 horsepower for this MY17 Tiguan! When might Aussies get this engine?

I agree if you order one a 2017 build would be good!

And since they will have been driven on Euro roads since April 2015 or so, we should get some decent reviews too!

I did a new Tiguan configuration on the German site and the Euro prices are scary!
