        What colour is the smoke?

White, shouldn't be blue if turbo?

If the turbo had done the seals, it would be pumping tons of smoke out. And it would make your eyes water. The smell of burnt synthetic oil is awful. The smoke would hang in the air for ages.

If it's black, it's over fuelling.

If it's white doesn't smell bad and dissipates quickly, then it's probably water. Either condensation in the exhaust or blown head gasket.

Might be a blown head gasket, tow truck picking up the car tomorrow off to Volkspower. Thanks for the very helpful info.

could it be the dreaded timing chain tensioner? given that yours is a 2010 TSI engine... (old tensioner version).

i always tell my wife to stop the car immediately and call VW assist if ever the jingle bell warning lights show up and the car would not start properly...

It's not the chain tensioner because the car is now working without any engine lights on but smoke up the street if driving. Will find out tomorrow. Getting the tensioner changed at the same time.

Might be an injector leaking down, or piston rings. How has oil consumption been? Turbo failures weren't common on the CAW motor however it is plausible due to having that boost fault showing up also.

Oil consumption has been pretty bad. Just dropped it off on a tow truck and hope it isn't that bad or expensive.

Good news is it's running, bad news is oil in intercooler, boost pipes. Started pulling it apart for a good clean, lucky Melbourne has a long weekend. Car shutdown due to a faulty sensor. Will post pictures asap

so faulty pcv would have allowed more oil blowby to enter those sections.

how many k's has it done? is it driven in traffic or highway most of the time?

Approximately 70,000, wife drives it to work 15-20 mins no highways. Will post some pictures also of the Wagner intercooler I installed, once I pull it out. It's a beast.
