Auto Headlight problem

Hi All,

I have just found some problem with my auto headlight... it does not switch off even with bright day light....

any thoughts? (I have checked there is nothing covering the light sensor)

yes ... it is in the auto position.

I find that the headlights can be on even when it's 10 am in the morning.
you can alter the sensitivity of it via VCDS

I had a similar issue but lights wouldn't turn on until almost dark. I had the sensor replaced under warranty.

Just to ask to obvious... is isn't the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) on is it?...

Are the tail lights on too? Or just the lights at the front?

That's the call I bet, they're all fitted with DRLs !!!!

it is very temperamental...

Try cleaning the windscreen over the sensor to make sure there is no oil film. Otherwise get the dealer to look at it. If it's still under warranty they'll probably replace the sensor.

No its not DRLs.... even the navigation changed colour (night mode).

Ian, yes.. I know what DRL is... thats why I said i was not the DRL. It is the actual low beam.

RNS 510 will change to night mode (map will go to a darker colour scheme) if the light sensor senses light level is below what the preset level and at the low beam will be on as well as the tail light...

I might fiddle around with the setting in VCDS and see how I go...

I think you can turn night mode off in the RNS settings menu

Yes you can, but the problem is the headlights. Sounds like a faulty sensor. Take is back to your dealer for warranty.
