  • RCD510 and reverse camera advice needed!

    Hello

I am new to the forum and have been trawling for info on getting a new RCD510 and reverse camera. But I am still not sure what to do.

I contacted Vincent from Lane Cove/Seven Hills (he's on Gumtree and eBay). His prices are good but he says he doesn't have anyone to install the reverse camera.

I have also emailed JKU for a quote. They are more expensive but seem to have installers available and from what I understand it's Australian stock.

Anyone have any thoughts on what I should do?

If I go with the Vincent option is there someone in Sydney that can install the RVC?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Thanks
    TigMasterFlex

If you're keen you can also DIY it. There are quite a few people that have done this install themselves (myself included). I'm pretty sure there's a write-up on here somewhere.

Thanks for the replies! I think I might be too inept for DIY. I installed a iPhone integration kit into our last car (an X3) and it stopped working after a few months. I'm sure it had something to do with my budget install job.

If anyone knows a competent installer in Sydney I would love to know!

Done 2 myself and assisted in a third. It is a full day job taking the paneling off and re installing it. Not difficult but hands will be pretty sore as the metal clips hold the panels very firmly in place and your fingers need to be like pliers! Try contacting Aussietig he lives in Sydney and may be able to help.

I had the exact same thing done to my Tiguan in Melbourne about a month ago.

Picked up a brand new RCD510 for $250 from a guy who had just taken delivery of his new Golf and installed the RNS510, then picked up a genuine reverse camera for $250 off ebay.

vw_parts_aus off ebay put me onto a guy who installed the RCD510 and RVC in 2hrs and only charged $200 installation. $700 all up and couldn't be happier! The dash looks so much more expensive with the bigger colour screen and the reverse camera has prevented the Mrs from accidentally touch parking against walls. haha

Getting it done is the perfect excuse for a road trip to Melbourne! If you want his number, just give me a shout.

              Thanks Bambazonke and AwesomePossum.

Yes Vincent mentioned his installer was in Melbourne. No time for a road trip at the moment unfortunately!

I'll see if AussieTig can help.

                Reply PM sent TigMasterFlex.

But people can find the write-up with pics for a RVC install for the Tig by clicking on "RVC" link down in my signature.

                Thanks for the plug Bambazonke!

However definitely installs are not my thing if it's not my own car!

RVC install still haunts me today and remember I promised myself to either 1) tick that option upfront next time or 2) pay someone else for the cuts and bruises to their hands and body!

But more importantly these days ... kids are older and out prams & stroller.
Mrs drives the Tig and I've gone back to my boy racer days!

So no longer check into this forum (apart from answering the occasional PM about past threads).

Still believe the Tig is the best all round package and bang for buck SUV on the market!

Anyhow has been fun and a good experience DIY installing all that stuff that's on my Tig and experimenting with PersonalPOI files!

On that note ... still happy to maintain and share updates to my PersonalPOI file.

But will only be tempted to do that if a new map comes out.

So someone just let me know when and if that ever happens?

i purchased a blue tooth kit from vincent 2 months ago and a new RCD510 from a Golf R from a perth client.

Live Perth WA and used Phillip from Eurospec in Balcatta. Great job and very well priced.
