K04 tune is already in - he was driving it with the new time file with the old turbo on last week.

Have a look back a couple of pages: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1036673

Yeah I think MFSW first. But may get the DSG tune later too. If I want rapid power just put into sports like down shifting.

        • Will be interested to see what 0-100 times you get. Not sure about further upgrades on my Tig. Currently shaking my pink piggy bank to see if I can find enough pennies for the new Golf R.

Yeah, New Golf R would be nice! I went through the same thought process as you to find out the feasibility of the new R but I now have given up that idea after lot of consideration.

First thing would be (for me) Tig is a future proof vehicle. It got more space than Golfs and has the ability to tow things make it a suitable vehicle when family grows little bit. So space wise it will be fine for me for at least few more years.

Also performance wise golf R we are getting is slightly detuned and probably doing 0 - 100 in low 5 secs and moding/tuning it, would void the warranty as same as my current Tig. Also performance upgrades may not be available ASAP and may take many months to get all the bugs sorted out. So better wait two three years after they release the car and let others to find out most of the issues before I jump in.

Honestly for my eye Tigs looks better than golfs specially new MK7 version.

Last but not least my Tig is just one year old and selling it going to cost me a lot now and and I think best to wait three/four years before think about a change.

But all this is my thought process and could change or solidify when I met a Golf R mk7 in the future. By that time probably there could be many second hand A45 AMGs may be floating around too.

            • I did a 0-100 test with launch control. Had a staggering results of 5.16secs.
My wife was in the car, with full tank of petrol, air-con on and 18in wheels. It was pretty random so I didn't do a second run.

I think under 5 secs is more than achievable. Now I got my VWR coilovers, will do another test soon and see the difference.

              • This is my 0 to 100 test run time, with K04. I ran with crappy stock 17 inch tires, and stock intake and stock suspension with 1/2 tank petrol + full weight. Run is with a 3000 RPM launch without DSG reflash.

looks like I need to do bit more to get in to comfortable 4 sec category

You just need a bit more practise

Anyway just get a 4.99sec and you can claim to have a sub 5sec car. I'd say ditch the antenna and take out the sub woofer and you'd be there

If you're not going to take it down the drag strip and chase times then it really doesn't matter.

Out of interest what time were you expecting?

I suspect the extra gear change is going to knock a bit off the time - even with DSG. You can't get to 100km/hr in second so you have to change up and that will rob you a couple of tenths.

Still 5 sec out of a 1600kg car is pretty respectable.

I was expecting something around high 4 sec (4.7s - 4.8s) which was predicted by a performance calculation software after I calibrate it with my stage 2 data.

Anyway to get the APR advised power gains I need to have a better intake and possibly a catback exhaust upgrade which I am hopefully going to do soon enough.

Another much easier way to break in to 4 sec is a DSG reflash with bit high launch RPM, this is also recommend by my tuner as it also increase clutch holding pressure to minimise clutch slip under increased torque of K04.

Third option would be get the K04 V3 file (soon to be released hopefully ) and hope for the best

So I think 4 sec run will be inevitable in the future considering many possible ways of achieving it. I am not going to go after breaking times but there is a dream in my mind to make Tig under 5 sec for 0-100 and under 13 sec for quarter mile

Also I highly recommend upgraded Haldex controller for Tigs if people do performance runs as it makes launches lot less fuss and smooth.

I think you've got all the big gain items and everything else will net you only a few more kW. Certainly enough to sneak you into the 4sec club though.

As you say increased launch RPM may be the quickest way to achieve the goal... but also the one that's going to cause most stress on your transmission I would have thought.

My Haldex has been built by Borg Warner in Sweden and is now en-route to Australia via the US. Looking forward to it

Though hopefully I should see it in the next couple of weeks.

Looks like it rounds to the nearest 0.1 anyway, so you could well have done 4.952! Nice time!
