I have a better plan for spending 10K Get Audi TTRS engine (5 cylinder) from US and swap the engine. Then need to get APR map with a new ECU. Haha Or just wait till RSQ3 comes out !

I managed to complete it in time. Lucky I had 3 days to complete it, It took me two and half days to do every thing I think someone can do it with in two days but I had to go to Bunnigs and few other shops to get some tools and distilled water.. I took some pictures of the install and I am going to upload them now.

Ramee where did you go? Have you gone out for another "test" drive???
So finally I did the turbo swap successfully with out any big issues during the process. I managed to it in two and half days while taking my time and working alone. Few of my friends wanted to help me but I rather did it myself because it let me to concentrate on work and more freedom with my time Anyway now everything is installed properly and no oil/coolant leaks and car running fine without any misfiring issues. Also now that annoying waste gate rattling noise is gone and engine turbo making loud roar and sweet whistle with a never ending pull till red line makes me feel my hard work has already paid off! I would say K04 Tiguan install is a epic success !.
I took lot of pictures during the K04 turbo install and some of the important ones I will upload here..
Getting ready for the job, Intake is removed and also coilpack harness and coolant return line moved to front to get some clearance.
First step is to remove the heat shield which obstruct the access to the turbo
Heat shield is out
Next oxygen sensor is removed.
Time to separate the down pipe from turbo. Removing downpipe flange nuts one by one.
Then unbolted the downpipe supporting bracket
Downpipe was separated and moved to a side
Next time to remove compressor output piping. Basically need to remove the pancake pipe.
Pancake pipe is removed
Now turbo is free from three sides and need to separate from oil and coolant lines and DV electrical connections
Finally need to remove these top five nuts and we can take the turbo out

Oh no Tigger, I was struggling to upload my post and after I typed every thing and pictures attached I accidentally pressed the back button Then It said my post got too many pics and had to separate it in to two.
So I see you earned enough brownie points to get time to do your bumper grill mod ah.. it looks great and I may try that on my bumper too

Bugger!!! Don't you hate it when you've spent all that time for it not to save and you lose everything. I feel your pain.
So did you have to take your engine right out? Or were you able to remove/install the turbo in-situ?
Not that I'm considering it - if (and a big if) I ever went down the path of changing turbos I think I'd be getting someone else to do the job. Sounds like a fair few tools required.
Is there a bedding in period? Be interested in your first impressions and whether the pain vs gain is worth it.

I did not take the engine out. Just swapped the turbo while it is in the engine bay. There is enough room in engine bay to do it and there are few DIYs for GTI K04 install. So I followed them and it wasn't very hard. Anyone can do it but need lot of tools, time and patience
I think there is no bedding period for a turbo swap. Right after install there was bit of smoke coming out until all the oil residue burned out but this is normal. Then everything went back to normal.
First trial impressions are there is some more lag than K03. Not much but you can feel it. But acceleration is smooth/consistent and more ideal for daily commuting in traffic ( I feel more fine control of power in these conditions). This lag however is not when I cruising or moving in stop go traffic, it is when you really want to accelerate and about 3000 RPM you will feel that surge of torque pushing you back in to the seat. It is like two step process and up to 3000 RPM it is like stage 2 and after K04 power starts to come out.
DSG also acting like before(shifts weirdly time to time) but in D mode now it is hesitate to drop gears when I floor it. Before when I am in 6th gear and floor it, DSG dropped to 3rd gear but now it want to stay in 5th. I think this is due to high amount of torque and power generate by new turbo. So if you want to have real fun need to use sports mode.
