Either way you'll want/need a down-pipe. In reality all the other bits you bolt on (DP/CAI/FMIC) will only make marginal gains - DP being the biggest at ~10kW.
If you're going to go to the hassle of upgrading the turbo then there's a number of other options out there other than a K04 worth considering. I'd be talking to your tuner (APR) about options that they have available/recommend. I know Guy @ APR is doing work to his Tig and it will more than likely include a turbo upgrade. Whether he'll go Stage 4 we'll just ahve to wait and see
Yes you are correct .. I will be getting my Stage 2 tune first and already booked in for next Friday.. I am getting a custom exhaust done in a local shop for very reasonable cost include installation. They quote me 900 AUD for fabrication it in stainless steel + Installation. Not sure about the quality but it is a reputed shop. Let see how it will go. But any ways I will get my Stage two flash first and then the down pipe install because I heard some horror stories about locked out ECUs rejecting multiple flashes.

Ok when I first got my Tig I hated the small compartment under the AC control panel to keep mobile phones like stuff.. Then when I saw my Galaxy note 2, a bright idea pops in to my mind..
This is what I did ..
I know I am crazy
These Bluetooth dongles are well known for draining the battery so mod it to power on only when car ignition on..
First I thought custom program a graphic LCD but advantage of using tablet is very easy to build any interface or app and ability to use Google android maps and navigation.
Ramee now that you've got the photo thing happening I can see this thread getting very big
Great to see people trying some new ideas/mods - I like the Galaxy phone app/BT mod idea. It would be great to be able to do something similar and customise some diagnostics displays into the RCD/RNS510.
Next I wanted to do is to upgrade the Tig sound system with something decent. Being a bit of an audiophile sound quality of stock speakers was pretty harsh to me. So after searching few forum threads I started to disassemble door panels and plastic door sill trims. All in DIY style
First thing I noticed after removing door panels is how thin is the inner metal plate which speakers are mounted. So dynamated door panels to make sound more deep. Also stock speakers were mounted on two inch tall plastic speaker spacer rings so had to make custom rings which was a huge pain. Finally got some nice MBquarts and installed them.
With the new speakers and door dynamated it sounds much better now. But I felt RNS510 internal amps are not powerful enough to drive upgraded speakers to full potential specially low end of the frequency spectrum. So wanted to install an after market amp. After searching got a Alpine mrx-v70 5 channel amp.
Nice work. Keep us updated with facinating pictures.
Do you use LOC for the Amp, and splice off the plug bundle? And how do you run the power and ground cables into the interior?
Thanks.. I did not use a LOC .. I just enabled the low power signals from VAGCOM cable and My Amp can even handle speaker level signals too.
For getting power (only positive) in to the cabin I use the same hole VW use to run their wiring. When you remove the door sills there are plenty of grounding points all along the OEM wiring so can easily tap in to one or two connections for good ground.
I'm wondering, what did you do for the speaker wires. Did you find and tap each speaker wire at the door sil, run new ones from the speakers or tap right up at the deck and then run back to the amp?
Start of the second phase of audio upgrade.. Hardest part was to decide the best place for sub.
Sub will go here !
Got a 10 inch MBquart sub which can play as low as 25 Hz
Next tried to find a place to build a custom fibreglass box with not much luck. Decided to build one myself. it is def. not easy work IMHO still work in progress ...
Got a digital sound processor (Audison Bit One) which is capable of doing wonders to the sound quality ..
was thinking of upgrading my speakers. this looks like trouble haha i guess i'll get a professional to do it. the sub location is unexpected! wonder how it will sound on the side panel.
