Really? Have you tried APR/GIAC or Custom Code? There is a reason why some tuners pricing is higher?
Every tuning brand has its own problems when it comes to tuning the car that is new and even the APR is not immune as someone in the forum with the Tiguan of similar vintage can confirm.
Yes, exactly right. In my case it is something that NO tuner could get around. Simon from Viezu and his dealers have spent ages trying to sort it out (at no additional cost to me I might add), and he is still working on getting it sorted, even when I'd pretty much given up all hope. Can't ask for more than that

I was only asking out of interest, as It turns out so far I found APR to be able tune factory ECU's more consistently without opening ECU's etc, unless advised before tuning Starts. With great Success/results.

I am only trying to help Tiggy1, with a potential solutions. As it currently appears that Viezu possibly may not be able to provide a solution. With Tuning technology today and constantly changing, I guess time will tell if it's a software or hardware fault.

Appreciate that, and yes I have done plenty of research (even approached APR very early in the peace) and tried Bluefin handheld device to satisfy myself. No-one is able to do direct port tune on these (MED17.5) ECU's yet (not even APR). It appears that us (un)lucky Tig owners are the only ones with this uncrackable ECU which can only be benchtuned at this stage. Even the Golf-R, to which the Tigs are most closely related (drivetrain wise anyway) use the old MED9 (direct-port tunable) ECU. Anyone feel free to correct me if I've got my facts wrong, otherwise 'nuff said

I bet you, if your ECU is alive & running I can tune it for you. APR don't have to rely on CMD or Alientech tools attaching to boot pins on these cars.
We have done quite a lot of the new Tiguan's & they are not hard. If someone damages the boot pins on your ECU, then that would render certain methods inoperable (as above) - but we don't have to use those methods.
P.S. - your picture of your Downpipe - it only has one exhaust hanger (front mount)? - has one fallen off already? or is that how it's designed?

Yes, there is only one hanger pin (noticed that myself) - I guess they deemed it unneccesary to use both, and as far as I know hasn't created any dramas (yet)
Unfortunately, due to the lack of production hardware for our Tigs, beggars can't be choosers!
I know you have done more than most in this regard, with many happy and appreciative customers, but IMHO the perceived value of the APR product is no longer there (given the number of players in the game now).

No problems - send us some close up pics of your downpipe - I agree with price, but unless they are being given away, you need to look at materials, construction (ie welds & hangers), design & what type of catalyst that is being used - all these play a big part in pricing.
Your photo makes it hard to work out the material, the welding, and that is the smallest, oddest 200 cell ? cat I have ever seen - oh, thanks for clearing up the one hanger bit - thought it looked a little "different" !

Hi. Sorry for late reply - been "AWK". Had to go and pick up hire car from Cairns, as have to drive to Tsv tomorrow to find place to live (moving there next week) and Tig still (obviously) not going
I didn't take the photo. Didn't actually see it (in the flesh) before being fitted. Simon organised it all with SVS in Cairns while I was away at the Adelaide Clipsal (with all the Beavans and Boobies ), but given the time and effort Simon has taken in getting them right (and the reputation of the manufacturer) I was pretty confident it wouldn't be rubbish.
Besides which, if there was any drama I knew I was only an hours drive away from bashing down his door (one of the advantages to him being based up here)
As to weld quality, I did climb underneath and have a bit of a look and seemed quite good to my (admittedly) inexpert eyes. I could be wrong (correct me if so Simon) but I believe the cat is a Magnaflow one (or same as)?! Drove approximately 800km straight afterwards (to Tsv and back) and certainly no trouble in that distance (except for CEL of course, but tune will fix that).
In any case, that's one of the reasons I have stuck with Simon/Viezu - things haven't gone as smoothly as he or I would have liked, but at least he's doing his darndest to make it right , although I'm sure yourself or any of the other tuners out there would probably do the same

To answer your various questions:
This is a custom DP as the final production runs are still coming into stock.
It is, however actually the same type of build as our highly desired Golf 'R' DP's.
Our VARdesign Tig DP's: 3", Tig welding, mandrel bent, with 200cell high flow cat. 16 gauge high grade 304ss with 10mm flanges and these Tig ones have been designed and engineered with one hanger arm - future ones may have two. We offer polished, ceramic coated or painted in any colour you like - this one' is grey painted that's all. As our manufacturers for VARdesign do Walkinshaw exhausts (and HSV, FPV, Ralliart, Elfin, Isuzu etc etc etc etc etc etc etc) for those of you who are not aware, these are the best quality systems out there - at any price. Tiggy1's ecu has an issue with the boot circuit - we do these all the time it's not rocket science - it's a single boot pin connection and this one just won't play ball so we'll sort it another way....

The problem with Brads ECU is the Boot line into the Tricore chip has been damaged somehow, and is no longer functioning. All ECU chips have the usual outputs and inputs, but also have a dedicated boot line in that changes the function of the ECU chip when activated via voltage. This is why Brads car runs perfectly fine, but we are having trouble re-tuning it. This dedicated input has been around as long as the ECU chip itself.
This input is required any time the EPROM memory needs be changed, and in my thinking it matters not of you do this via an OBD port, or a direct "antitune" connection. Wouldn't be the first time I am wrong, but having spent a lot of last weekend diagnosing Brad's ECU with my Dad, a lifetime IBM computer tech with immense electronics experience, wel it seems to me everyone is accessing the same input to the chip by one means or another.
Bottom line is Viezu insurance is taking care of it all, as per usual should anything at all go wrong. Nice backup to have.

Polo GTI is the same my friend, not just the Tigs that have the dreaded MED17.5.
