Next time anyone finds a leak in their Tiguan or any other sunroof just remember those drain tubes are part of the design , in most case all sunroofs leak !! , yeah I know that sounds dumb but I will explain . Most sunroofs tilt up and also slide back so at one time the glass has to pass through the hole in the roof , if it was waterproof it would not be able to do that . So the makers have a miniscule amount of tolerance which then allows the sunroof to open and close , obviously some water will then get past the seals and that my firends is why the drain tubes are there !! . Now in a panoramic roof like the Tiguan BMW Mercedes the huge peice of glass does tend to move around on its mountings so again they need to allow for any water getting past . Read my post earlier about the fitting at the housing it is the number one problem we see with this model and Beetles as well , I did one just this week and found not only the knuckle fitting was loose on three corners but on two of them the joint next to the knuckle fitting was leaking as well . Yes as Umai has said the end fittings leading to the road can block as well , I keep an old sunroof drive cable as its the perfect tool to feed down the tubes to clear them . NOW avoid using a commpressed air jet to try and clear the tube as sometimes it can cause the connection at the top to come off completly , the VW ones are not clamped and they will come off easily .

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,
