    Hi all, been a while since I've been in here. I've been loving our 2010 Tiguan, it crushes me I had to list it for sale.

    We had a new addition to the family and with immoble in-laws (outlaws we needed a 7 seater so ended up with a good 2010 santa fe - still doesnt hold a candle to the Tiguan though.

    I was just more curious than anything... We got the MY10 non DSG version with the off road pack, fog lights and dual climate air con.. It's only done 68,000kms... But I'm quite disappointed that in the 3 weeks we've had it listed, not a single phone call... Initially I had it at $31,300 - with 12 months rego and brand new pirelli P6 tyres.. I've droped the price again to $28,700 (I'm sure you can find it online with that info..) which is well within the red book pricing guide.. but not a single call.. I'm bewildered.. speechless.. Maybe it's the time of year? I'm certainly not asking too much.. Am I? (paid 43K for it so a massive loss after 3 short years)
    We added good car seat covers, headlight and bonnet protector, moulded boot liner.. and the car is in excellent shape.. I thought it would sell within a week..

    What are these models going for? When you see the same models for more, you'd think your one would sell..?

    I might have to see what the car yards will give me for it, sigh..

    I would almost definitely say its the time of year - month or so either side of Xmas is a bad time to sell as a lot of people have spent up big etc. If you can hold off for a couple of months I definitely would - don't let the Stealers have it cheap!!!

      Yep ... definitely just a bad time to sell.

      I'd say watch out for dodgey text messages with no real mobile number left or hidden that ask you to email them back!

        Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah I guess it's just that time of year.

        Yes I've had those dodgy texts come thru before, even via gumtree, some people eh!

          My further tip is to type in the email address they provide you into a Google Search and see if they're legit.

          Those dumb fcuks don't even bother to change the email addresses they use for scams.
          And usually someone that got burnt before has posted it up (somewhere on the web) to warn others in the future.

            Had a quick look on carsales and have to say if someone is looking for a 103TDI then there are quite a few around for significantly less $ than your current advertised price. I know it's tough given how much you paid for your vehicle only a couple of years ago but for slightly lower kms there's a couple of private sellers in Qld for $22k and a dealer advertised for $24k drive-away.

            I think partly the issue for everyone regards resale is the introduction of the 2WD version. Basically this has brought down the entry level price for the Tig by $5k. So people on a budget that may have bought a second-hand Tig are now seriously going to consider buying a new 2WD version instead. Particularly if people are looking at fuel economy and also if it's only a shopping cart which 90% of them are used as anyway.

              Yes the price has fallen out of them for sure. Though there are only 18 auto, MY10 models for sale and none are under 27900.. most are similarly priced to mine, some with less kms, some more, some with leather seats and some without. I'm sure it will sell.. it's the depreciation that kills me.

                Yeah though I did the search by km instead - searching for 60,000-80,000km

                I don't think there's going to be that much difference between a 2009 and 2010 both with 60,000km on the clock.

                Reality is you want to be in the top 3 of someone's search so that they are going to give you a call. If you end up on the second page you may as well forget about it.

                Tough thing with second hand cars people are often shopping for a colour/options and you can be either lucky or unlucky depending on what's on your car.

                  I would say your asking way too much. If a 118TSI is only worth $30k brand new there is no way you would get anything close to that regardless of spec for your car. I hate to break it to you but people will sooner buy something brand new and compromise on spec than spend the same dollar on something with 60000 plus klms on it thats almost 3 years old

                  I have a 132TSI that was delivered in March 2012 and i wouldnt even expect to get what your asking for mine and its a 2012 model with 24500klms on it.

                  Depreciation is a bitch and you know what the unfortunate part is, we have dealers to blame for a great deal of it. They demand top dollar for the newest models and they get close to the new model they sacrifice them to offload them which screws you and i over Here is a perfect example of what i am talking about. A 132TSI, brand new according to the advert for $33k

                    Yes and the other unfortunate thing is that people won't necessarily pay a lot extra for all the additional options you've added to the car so if you spend $thousands to option up the vehicle you can pretty much kiss this money goodbye when it comes to trade.

                    It may make the vehicle more attractive to prospective buyers but probably won't get a heap more for it.

                    And dealers discounting the new cars doesn't do us owners any favours either when it comes to trade (unless you're one of the lucky ones that bought at the discounted price). All the brands do it to some extent. Though the better manufacturers tend not to discount the price too much but just add extra features as standard (which helps keep resale values up a bit).

                      I don't understand you guys, isn't it what you want? As cheap as possible new cars? http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ing-29613.html , ...and after the dealers had discounted them, it's not good again?

                      We will have cheap cars but they will not last, and they get sold by owners when there is a chance that something can go wrong with them once the warranty is ower, rather than repaired, because it won't be economical to repair them and keep them repairing.

                        I can't be over priced when it's the 2nd cheapest of the 18 MY10 models available. I just dropped it 3K the other day.
                        The ones asking 33 and 35K are over priced considering the prices of the new models right now.

                        If the dealers and VW weren't chopping up new car prices I'd get my original asking price, but since they are, I'm going to lose out, that's life, happens every day to someone.

                          Give it some time mate, we sold our 5 years old Golf5 to the first buyer who came almost after 2 months of advertising and dropped only $500 from asking price.

                            I think everyone absolutely wants cheap new car prices but the problem is when they start out expensive then get cheaper a year or two later because they haven't sold enough of them - that's what ruining the 2nd hand market. If they kept their pricing consistant it wouldn't be so much of a problem.

                              Unless you can write the loss from depreciation off on tax it's a very expensive thing to change cars regularly.
