The worldwide shortage of 7 speed DSG must have been resolved so they're bringing it back in the 132TSI.

The VW never said that the 132 Tiguan will be always only available with A/T. I think they were saying up to the end of 2012. At the time when the 132TSI become available with A/T, I was ordering Tiguan for my daughter when I had the oportunity to order 132TSI with A/T and went with TDI and DQ500 DSG. Nice gearbox, like it so far.

Thanks to all that have contributed to the subject and enlightened me on the various types of DSG boxes I have asked the dealer to supply written proof of the 5 yr warranty on the gearbox and have asked him to review his trade in value for my current Tiguan. He has offered me only 15k for it which I think is a bit low since it has only has 68k on it. I was hoping for around 18k as I have just replaced the tyres and rims plus it has the RCD 510 RVC and a 9w7 BT unit which I only installed last month. Hopefully this time next week I will have secured the deal as I said I will settle the difference without additional finance

Wow, that's a huge depreciation after 4 years and only 68k. I thought VW's were supposed to hold their value well & theTtiguan is so highly rated in its SUV class.

don't think it really matters what you've got... for trade in they will give you stuff all..

I reckon it will sell for $21-22k so $15k is leaving a lot of fat. Likely the dealer is on-selling it and nobody wants to take the risk on a DSG.
You will always get more for it if you trade at a dealer that is going to put it into their own stock.
Plus he's got to factor in 6 months use and abuse.....

And yes, they have told me that it is a 5 year warranty with the DSG, hoping not to need it.
I am sure that the model designation "pacific" means it has the standard Auto Box.
"Pacific" basically means "a stripped down fill-in model with parts we can get our hands on to fill orders..."

Or look at it as VW intended, the Pacific is to make up for the fact that the DSG was not available in the 132 TSI variant.
Now that it is back, it can still be a Pacific, it still has the extra features that were installed to make up for the cost difference between DSG and Auto.

Or really, VW is up specing the cars they are selling here in Aus, wouldn't be the first company to do so.

Either way, I get features + DSG for cost of Pacific.

Pacific doesn't mean "stripped down version", but the opposite.
I rushed in ordering our new car in 2010 to get TDI with the auto, before they went to DSG.

Collected new Tiguan yesterday. Very impressed with the smoothness of the DSG box and all the other goodies that were not on the previous Tiguan. Will be going through the manual tonight in greater deal as I think there may be some more scope for VCDS tweaks with respect to some new options like driver fatigue as there appears to be no hardware associated with them.

The dealer did give me a copy of a service bulletin email circulated to all dealers with respect to the 5 yr warranty on DSG boxes. It appears to be only applicable to MY13 vehicles and does cover manual and Tiptronic boxes as well up to 150k km or 5 yrs. anybody who wants a copy pm me their email address and I will send them a PDF of it

Great to hear that you are liking the new Tiguan, makes the wait even harder for me.

Will PM you my email address, be nice to have a copy of the service bulletin, get the feeling my dealer will be less than forthcoming with that info.

                        Congratulations on the Tig.
In your owner's manual, what's the servicing interval on all 3 transmissions? You can PM me if you like.

I was very fortunate as the car was sitting on the dealers floor for sale for about 3 weeks...... made the final decision to buy it at 9am monday morning and collected it at 4pm that same day. That's what I call fast service.

For all those wanting a copy of the service bulletin please be patient as I am out on site and will not be back in town where the purchase paperwork is till Sat pm. All i have here is the owners manual which I am busy reading up on.

Some interesting new features that I will raise in the forum in the near future notably the tyre pressure monitoring system where it appears VW has done away with the hardware switch in the centre console and now use a reset pressure option using a software switch in the MFD similar to what BMW use with their runflat tyre technology. A good challenge for logger to get his teeth into?

It's a pity the slush-box is going imho because the DSG does have some disadvantages as well as its advantages. DSG only will mean I for one won't be buying another Tiguan unfortunately.

You're confusing the hell of me! I always thought that the car salesman is at the bottom of the list of people I would trust.

                                Now, I don't know?
