Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Audi rs q3

The tiguan has a rival in the compact SUV class, although price wise they're probably going to be miles apart.

    Here's the news:

Audi has revealed its latest sporty RS model, the RS Q3. Officially a concept, but looking production ready, it will be unveiled at the 2012 Beijing motor show.

Its 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo petrol engine comes from the TT RS and RS3 Sportback, but develops more power, which rises from 335bhp to 355bhp. Thanks to the RS Q3's inevitably heavier weight, though, its 0-62mph time is slower than the TT RS's, 5.2sec nearly a second behind the coupe's 4.4sec. Its 165mph top speed eschews Audi's usual 155mph limiter. The RS Q3 gets a standard seven-speed S-tronic gearbox, which sends the power to a quattro permanent 4WD system.

The RS has been lowered by 22mm over a standard Q3, and it's wider too. The bumpers are sharper and more angular while the rear diffuser gets a typically RS look with twin oval RS tailpipes. This all yields a very aggressive look compared to the standard Q3.

The exterior is painted Ordos Blue – a matt blue with a slight yellow tint, apparently. The interior has been suitably colour coded, with a blue and black theme. There's plenty of carbonfibre, all woven with a hint of blue. A release date has not been set for RS Q3 concept but we will be surprised if it doesn’t make production, with a pricetag of around £50,000 likely. But will performance car enthusiasts welcome the RS Q3?

Oh boy i can't wait for someone to crash theirs so i can do an engine swap with one of these babies!

Funny thing is that I was talking with Sharkie about this engine transplant last month.

Would haul some serious ass but would definitely require DSG to utilise the power effectively.

I've been quite dissapointed by the Q3 to date. Looked very hard at the specs (Audi sent me a brochure) and a 155TSI Tiguan is a better buy than the equivalent Q3. A lot of stuff is extra add-ons in the Q3 and it costs quite a bit more, boot is bigger though.

I am however very interested in the rumoured Q3 S (200kw) which will be launched before the Q3 RS and then obviously the RS as well. We know the RS exists as it has been tested in Germany by the press already (pre-prod prototype yes, but 6 of them at the same time ? ....).

If the RS comes I will seriously consider buying it, but am expecting it to come in at almost $100K.

I'm just confused as to why a "soft-roader" needs a super sport variant?
Personally I like my sports cars low to the ground for better handling etc. (looks mayyyy have played a part in that statement as well haha)
I understand the Q7 V12 TDI as that is a towing MACHINE! and I'd buy that as a family car in a heart beat but, the Q3 to me is a bit of a nothing car. It's not an off-roader but it has high clearance? I don't understand
        Sorry guys

To me ... it's just a boring looking car!

But so is the current Tig.
