  • Under seat drawers

Has anyone had any experience with fitting under seat drawers (storage compartments) similar to Jetta etc on a Tiguan? I'm keen to attempt it if possible. Any advice would be appreciated.

I use that space for the air compressor and tyre sealant kit. I'm sure you can buy the drawer and if doesn't fit you could always sell it to some one with the MK5,6. There is a good chance that it will fit.

The high-spec Tiguan (147/155kW) has tumble passenger seat, under-seat drawer and rear table tray. I looked at fitting the rear seat try and found that there is different seat frame used in the high-spec, The low-spec does not have the mounting points. I suspect this may be the case with th under-seat drawer, no mounting points. I looked at this underseat drawer myself, it is so small as to be useless. Convince yourself first its practical

Well, the local dealer parts guy insists that you need new seat bases. It all seemed a bit hard for him (and me).

I have nevertheless sourced some from Europe (for both, including all fittings and shipping, US$262). Can't see them being cheaper locally...

I'll update with how it all goes when they arrive.

May I know where you sourced ur parts...? Would be keen to see how it looks like and whether it'll fit. I feel the glove box in the Tiguan is way too tiny and I need a bit more storage places that is easily reachable from the drivers side.

I have to agree with some of the comments here. The glovebox is shockingly small and the storage draw under the passenger seat next to useless! It's not so much the capacity but the draw doesn't even open out far enough to use all the space effectively. Poorly designed after thought if you ask me!

I suppose that it depends what you put in the glovebox. Ours is half empty. Most people don't need space for CD's or DVD's with the media playeer or HDD in RNS510.

Just out of interest; what do you have in your glovebox? (mean everyone)
In ours, there are; small torch, digital camera, pen and small note pad.

I have been dealing with Robert at TMTuning - robert@tmtuning.com but frankly I wouldn't be ordering until I get mine to see if they do indeed fit !

I appreciate they won't be a huge storage facility but they'll be better than what I have now given the centre console is basically useless if you have the factory MDI and a iPod in there…

I had a poke in ETKA at the 2011 Tiguan and saw two sets of seats:

The manual seat seems to show drawers very similar to the Golf system (there is one listed for both front seats):

The electric ones do not show a drawer at all.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Apparently some of the guys on vortex ordered some however they don't fit their model due to the wiring connector being in the way.
Just a heads up, you might want to check that out.

is it true that they are really small?

I read somewhere that it barely fits the leather folio thingy holding the manual and log book.

Yep they really ARE that small. I have one (standard fitting in 200 under the passenger's seat and it would barely hold a paperback book !!

                          Cheers

It's just the forum recognizing & paying homage to what a cool year 2008 was, the year the mighty Tig came to be!

Smiles have shortcuts... so (without the spaces):

                              : b a n a n a : =
                              : ) =
                              : D =
                              : c o o k i e : =

                              and of course
                              8 ) =

There is plenty more, just hit the smile shortcut and you can dig through them all

So whenever someone puts 2008 in brackets (or anything ending in 8 ) you get the smilie... unless you add in that extra space.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
