  • Awww, yeeaaahhhh... NOT! But as soon as i read the scientific term, 'poke' i knew everything would be ok... Kind of lol, hehehe!
Hang on, what 4 things are we adding together to get 40mm worth of more poke? I had no concern with the 'offset' at the inside of the wheel, just the distance from the outside of the left wheel to the outside of the right wheel... So my wheels, 19x8.5 ET35 give me an outside of wheel to outside of wheel measurement of about 1780mm. I am just hoping that an outside of wheel to outside of wheel on a 19x8.5 ET45 equals about 1760mm, or 20mm less... (keeping the width the same, just altering the offset, to keep it simple...)

Please write back, Simon! My brain's blowing bubbles... !

        sigh...

Thanks for your patience, Simon... When i mentioned 'stance', i meant wheel to wheel, sorry if not clear ! Got more than i bargained for with additional pokage information! Hehe...

You're right MGV, each wheel is 10mm further out with an ET35 vs ET45 but you wouldn't say that gives you 20mm more offset, talk in terms of each wheel rather than pairs or you could just as well say ET35 gives you 40mm more poke if you added all 4 together.

An easy rule of thumb in working out how much more poke you're going to get is add the ET difference (in this case 10mm) to half of the extra wheel width, e.g. let's say you went from a 20x8 ET45 to a 20x9 ET35, the ET gives you 10mm extra poke, the extra width you would halve because it goes both inside and outside so 9"-8" = 25mm (close enough) so that gives you 12.5mm extra width plus 10mm extra offset which results in an OUTWARD increase of 22.5mm overall over your old wheel. The inside of the rim would be half of the extra width, in this case 12.5mm MINUS the offset increase of 10mm, so the inside of the rim will sit 2.5mm further in that your old wheel. ERGO, stay with me where hehe, you will be 22.5mm further out and 2.5mm further in which is an overall width increase of 25mm YAY!!. PHEW lol.
ok so in conclusion.. are these ctx wheels with ET45 ok for our tiguan? LOL .. serious question

          • Are they 8" or 8.5"? ET45 will work in either I reckon, definitely in 8"s. I had 18x8 ET45s on at one stage and they were fine. Not very aggressive looking but depends what you're after.

            • They are 8.5" wide.... I believe for both 18" and 19"...

              • 8.5 ET45 should fit up fine although you may want to check your inner front clearance to the spring perch. Should be ok but I'd double check to be on the safe side.

                    • Is this group buy still available? Is there a website for this shop in Clayton?

I really do like the matte black look even if there are so many of them

Is it available in 20"? I was thinking of going for 19 but then after reading the comments that 20" are cheaper, I went to have a look at tire rack and it's true!!

                      • Doggiehower: yeah I got em from a guy named Jason, 0404 354 005 from EuroDivision. Young Asian bloke but v nice. Got it for $1,000. He told me its 10.8kg for the 19x8.5" ET35's that I bought but I haven't weighed them yet. Give him a call. I tried organizing a group buy months ago... Got a couple of interests but died out n I just went ahead n bought em myself. Wld've been good if u were here just a couple weeks before this!! Haha

Yes apparently they are from the same VMR factory (not sure where, maybe directly from Taiwan). Jason himself said if u buy urself a full set of VMR V710 and bring it to his warehouse and if u can find a difference between the VMR's n these GTCX wheels, he's willing to give a set of his GTCX wheels n pay u another $1000 for the trouble. Hahahahah he's THAT confident. He said its from the same factory w the same manufacturing plant n processes n everything but just rebranded as GTCX. I don't know of that offer still stand though! Haha

                        He doesn't have 17's not 20's. I asked also. So I stuck w 19's.

Yes his warehouse is in Clayton. But u need to call him first before u go down cos he may/may not be there all the time.

I think VMR quote 11.5kg's for most of their 19" rims. I weighed one with a new tyre on it, 24.8kg's. ! Forgot to weigh it sooner, sorry...

But you got a set, Dan? You'll be stoked with the outcome, especially with the new springs installed! Good on ya!

Is urs lowered? Or were u looking for a set of Eibach lowering springs? I had the impression urs was already lowered..?

                            • Matt if urs were lowered...? Where did u get urs lowered and how much does it cost? PM me if u prefer. Thanks!

                              • I initially didn't think I would go down that road, but after seeing the photos of our mate gary's, decided I would give the eibach ones a go...
Not too low, just subtle. Have decided to get a set around July with tax return fundage.
