Hi All,
so, I got the reversing sensor (beep-beep) and the mega-expensive towbar included as options on my new MY11 (which is now 9 months old, but the love affair continues...)
I only towed my boat for the first time over the weekend. The MFD gave me a trailer light warning, which I fixed by unplugging and reconnecting the trailer connection. Problem was, the reversing beeper went off whenever I was in reverse gear (with the trailer attached). I thought it was supposed to be turned off when a trailer was connected?!
Anyway, had to take the car in for the battery cable recall yesterday, so I mentioned the problem to the service manager. He took a look at the rear bumper, mumbled soemthing about "genuine but non-factory reversing sensors", and basically said "bad luck, put up with the beeping while backing up a trailer"! WTF? Given that the reversing sensors and towbar were ordered options on a brand new car, shouldn't they work as expected? Obviously the car can detect the presence of the trailer (MFD brake light warning), but what he's implying is that it can't over-ride the reversing beeper?
Can anybody confirm that the beeper does in fact get over-ridden when reversing a trailer? I'm not real happy with the "get over it" attitude of the service manager (which, by the way, is where I bought the vehicle).
Thanks,
John.
