  • Keyless Entry FOB Not working - tip

Hey all, usually when I have a problem I turn to this forum for clues. However in this case couldn't find anything. Anyway stopped at the servo, locked the car with the key fob, but going back to the car the keyfob stopped working.

After 1 hr waiting for the NRMA. It turns out you can access a hidden door key hole by removing the panel on the drivers side handle. If you look under the handle there is a hole to put your key/ a screw driver and twist to remove the panel. You will see the key hole exposed.

    clever stuff.

I noticed this handy feature too.
Definitely useful for making up a surf key.

Should have spent that hour reading your manual and you could have discovered that for yourself and probably before NRMA arrived.

BTW any scratches to the paint work from jamming your key in to remove the handle.

that would be handy if VW included that as an option a waterproof key fob that you can tuck into your wettie and not worry about the key fob sitting on the beach.

That key was available, we got it for free with our Touareg in 2008. It's made of plastic and good for unlocking the door only.
You can still have a blank key cut without the fob and hide the real key inside the car.

I just got one from ebay (metal key though)
$8 and then a small fee to have it cut.
