Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm keen to hear that sound in real life with my very own ears! I don't have too much faith in sound clips out of crappy computer speakers... A bit more bass under load is what i'm after, but i don't want it to sound like a fart!
        Nindey, you have a PM...

I agree that in person is a much better comparison but i used soudclips of diifferent modifications to work out what i wanted it to sound most like then went from there.

Just wanting to know if i went with teh right choice or not

Pretty disapointing really,, doesnt feel more then over 100nm gained and Power increase of 64kw... I am wondering if a free flowing exhaust would make a difference?
Yep, standard non DSG aisin 6 speed slush box (bit of a misnomer) with APR tune...night and day, even with 18" wheels and increased torques I can pull up daily drive on range in 5th gear @ 60mph, although it's more fun left in auto...and i live in the tropics, so Melbourne with cooler temps should be even more noticable.

We got the trial tune on our auto 125 and it made a massive difference, I'm half tempted to just get it done and not tell mum...

Believe me it is a much more visceral expereience with the windows down and the turbo whistling like a kettle.

It's always easier not to tell them.

'The car goes so well lately. Did you spend again money on it?'
-'Nah...just gave it a wash yesterday'

Well had the car checked by Dean and............ nothing wrong with it, dratts.... still not impressed with the extra ooomph, maybe its the auto gearbox, being the non Dsg, it always want to get to the higher gears in normal mode and when in sports its always at the high end of the rev range, theres not enough time in the sweet spot, manual mode is a lot better but still I wish I didnt go with APR, not worth it in my opinion, maybe a manual or dsg would be better but the Tig is heavy and doesnt feel as powerful then the same tune in a GTI. Oh Well, its still a great car but for day to day driving, there is no point in getting this APR tune if you have a non dsg 6 speed auto, its defiantly not "Massive" in terms of feel between before and after chip, you really have to have the pedal to the floor and then still it just feels a little more brisk... I think I will have put on a Dyno as I am interested to know if it is really making the extra power advertised.

PS, my view is not against the Dealers, they have been great and supportive, there was an option to do a free trial before buying which I could have done before hand but I didnt, so I have no negative feelings towards these guys.[COLOR="Silver"]

I think the disappointment is a 'free' feature though as it isn't advertised and comes at no extra cost. Now thats a positive!
