Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi guys...after reading this thread, anyone here can tell me whether putting in the anti lift kit would b sufficient to overcome bodyroll/sway during high speed cornering? or do i need to put in the sway bar as well? both or either one better? sorry for asking a noob question here...but still new into modding..haha

The rear sway bar would be the most beneficial of the mods you have stated.

I would hazard a guess that a set of coilovers will reduce body roll further though due to the lower CoG.

Just got a quote from a local dealer for whiteline...front n rear sway bar for aud650 without installation...any suggestion whether by just putting in the back sway bar b enough? should i put in the front sway bar too? i reckon by putting in both will make our already rigid car giving out more squirking or squeaking noise in cabin...any thoughts guys??

              Hi GaryP
I have a nearly 4 yr old Tig with APR Stage 1, 18" RS4 replica wheels, rear sway bar (whiteline, adjustable) and whiteline anti-lift kit.
I forget what I paid for it, but I can say that rear sway bar and ALK are a good fit. You may like to experiment with adjustments to see what suits you best.
ALK was a sugested mod by supplier, and definitely worth it for turn in and direct feel. I have gradually adjusted rear bar up to max, but with standard springs I would consider going back to intermediate setting.
are you doing springs or coil overs, coz that would bring a whole new range of variables.
anyway, PM me if you want more specifics.
all best wishes, ur Tig looks great!

Thanks mate...what you are saying by putting in rear sway bar coupled with alk will do just fine? no front swaybar needed? hope u dont mind me asking...can u provide me the code for the anti lift kit you are using? is it KCA316 from whiteline? im worried because i tried fixing a audi S3 lower arm bush(ALK) that my dealer claimed compatible with my tig but end up after taking apart my front suspension only to find it wasn't the right fit for the brackets...sigh!! end up putting back my stock but wasted me half a day at the workshop...
Btw,im on eibach pro sport lowering springs..on stock coils that comes with ACC/DCC..if im on whiteline adj rear sway the setting can b max?

Hi Gary, rear sway bar and alk worked for me, but I have no experience on how it might work with lowered suspension. I suspect front and rear may provide a better balance overall, and to experiment with the adjustable settings.
I got my parts through a dealer in NSW, end ended up getting the alk on his recommendation. It makes a huge difference in cornering feel.
Not sure what ACC/DCC stands for and how this may be affected by h/d sway bar.
Gary, I've only ever tinkered around the edges with suspension, you may like to discuss on suspension forum, or ask for advice from others who have had their Tigs lowered.
                  hope this helps somewhat.
keep up the great work on your Tig!
                  cheers

Thanks tigga for d advise n feedback..will definitely research furthermore into this...friend of mine who driving gti mk5 also told me d same thing bout getting both front n back sway bar in order to get the right balance n avoid understeer during hard cornering. as for the ALK i tried putting in the audi S3 ALK that my dealer told me would fit my tig but sadly it doesn't fit on the mounting holes. but i did saw reviews saying that all these being put in will make our car more rigid n causes Squeeking sound all over...i wonder how true is it?
Btw..acc /dcc is the damper selection unit that came with some of the tiguan features...selection between soft medium n hard suspension...

Hi guys. After reading this thread, I'm still a little confused abt the ALK. The picture in the eBay site posted earlier shows some parts (yellow) but I don't know how/where those fit into. I have one of those sway bars that is fitted into trunk. Can someone please explain where the ALK go to? I'm quite interested in getting it if it helps w handling.

If it matters, I have yet to install the H&R springs I got.

                      Thanks!

                          Cool thanks Gary!

Just on the topic of suspension upgrades and this question prbly targets members here in Au or specifically VIC, what is the going rate to change to aftermarket springs?

UltraTune quoted me $350 per corner!!!

Do U guys have anywhere to recommend to change to lowering springs? And typically how much do u guys spend? Thanks!!

$350 a corner is crazy! They mustn't want the work?

I paid $350 to have my Bilstien B8's installed on my mk6 Golf.

I would find a VW specialist to do the work.

Paul seems to be a great guy to deal with. I'm happy to let him do it... he's quoted me in 'between $400-500 for the front and rears'. Cos he said the 'fronts take a bit more work than the rears'. The only thought I have was the location... I do apologize for not bringing this up earlier but I live in the western suburbs (just past Point Cook area). If he has a courtesy, that'll be great, but he's trying to organise it now and let me know by today or tmrw.

At the mean time, does anyone have any contacts in the west side of town? Cheers!
