Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

1200-1500km for testing is an absolute disgrace, and a load of crap to do without consulting the owner first... I would write to the magazines and Department Of Fair Trading for that alone. To be honest, they probably used your car as the workshop run around car to go and get lunches form the shops for the boys in the workshop... There is nothing to say that they didn't do it...

If I was you, I would be writing to anyone that listened... Wheels, Motor, Money Magazine, Australia's best Cars, A Current Affair, Today Tonight... At the end of the day, you have been screwed, and you deserve better...

This is an unacceptable position to be in, I'd be speaking to a lawyer and starting legal proceedings against this dealership straight away....

Not knowing the full details it is impossible to provide proper advice, but I suggest you engage a lawyer and provide them with all the details necessary. They will take it from there and ensure you have a good outcome for you. VWA and the media alone will not get that done I'm afraid.

Personally I would have refused to accept the car back with that many kms traveled "for testing".

On another note, Transporter, it seems the new DSGs are not as "bulletproof" as I thought .... ..... (see foot in mouth here )

Some good advice here. I hope she will take it further, that dealership's attitude is not acceptable. A strong letter to VWA should be in mail by now. I would demand the car to be replaced as only acceptable compensation.

This whole situation is enough to make me think twice about buying another VAG vehicle.

The k's put on your car Quoka are totaly unacceptable by any stretch of the imagination. Do what Sharkie says - tomorrow! And I would certainly not have accepted the vehicle back either. Good grief, what were they doing?!

1200 - 1500 kms put on the car to 'test'it??????
Did they ask your permission before driving it that much?

            What the hell is that????

I have never heard of such 'abuse' by a dealer before! (And I have had my fair share of 'Turkey' service issues with the dealership I have been going too!)

I WOULD CERTAINLY BE ASKING FOR A 'PLEASE EXPLAIN' on that one!

Oh dear, if my wife reads this thread, that would be the end of the plan of getting a new 2012 facelifted Tiguan.....
When I bought my Pirelli GTI in 2009, I drove home from John Hughes, no more than 10-12kms and the car limped into the garage, in "safe mode". The car had a lose bolt stuck in the turbocharger. I was told the next day that I needed a new turbocharger, then to be told I would get a new engine!
I refused and demanded a new car, and by the end of the week it was agreed and they ordered me another one. At that point I was finding ways out of buying a VW. This new one, touch wood has been good. On my recommendation, my sister-in-law had just bought a new Golf 118TSI, done just 1000kms and now sitting in the dealer with "transmission problems" Wouldn't engage reverse.....hmmm I'm never going to recommend anything ever again!

Wow that's a really bad run. Hope the 2012 is nothing but a dream.

^^THIS!! WTF? Where did they test drive it to? Adelaide?
Sounds like for 2 months they used it as the lunch car.

I hope we don't have these problems with our Tiguan. But at the same time...I think I've got a pretty good relationship with the dealer at the moment (you'd expect that buying 2 cars from them in the same month).

But still... what you've been through is unacceptable - by any standards.
