    Looks like a second player is delving into the 4mo Tig downpipe market;

    Techtonics tuning 2.5" T-304 Stainless Downpipe for the 2.0L 2wd & 4wd Tiguan. FSI/FSI gas engines. Fits all Tiguans to 2016.(46 State Only)

    First run to be available mid June according to reports. I notice its 2.5", the APR is 3" I think?

    Be interesting to hear some comparisons between the 2.

    Nice to see some other companies jumping on board.

    Good to see they are jumpin on board.

    The APR one is 3" witha single high flow cat.
    The TT one is a 2.5" with 2 cat's (required for the newer models apparently.)

    Not sure if you can run an off the shelf tune with the TT one (due to it's smaller diameter) or how much of a difference it will make as the stock piping is 2.5" anyway from memory.

      Agree with team_v .... stock is 2.5" already, so no real benefit in the TT one apart from the removal of the top VERY restrictive cat on the stock DP.

      I am however interested to see how TT's rear section goes as this is 1 are where the Tigs can get some improvement.

      1 of the biggest issues I have with the Tiguan's is that they sound rubbish .....

        I second this.
        Needs a good sound pipe that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

              Wonder if a gnarly back box would fix it? I would like different tips, the stock ones suck to clean.

                      I'll go and have another chat to Rob Bliss Exhausts and see how much they'd want for about 5 x 3" SS back setups ..... they have done some custom work for me before and it was good. How much is reasonable for SS 3" from cat back including high flow mufflers?

                      They quoted my $1200 for a once off, but a volume deal will likely bring that price down significantly .....

                        I would have thought anything around 1k with some nice tips would be a pretty good deal. As long as it's not drony, man I hate drone!

                        Centre muffler delete seems do-able too. Doesn't increase the noise too much apparently but does make a noticable power gain;

                        VWVortex.com - 09 Tiguan Center Muffler deletion

                        P.S. I have nothing against black boxes. They're all stainless on the inside

                          The cat back section contains 2 mufflers.
                          The first one (from the cat back) is the resonator which reduces/cuts out the droning.
                          The second one (near the rear) is the suitcase muffler which reduces the noise.

                          The resonator is more restrictive for power but the suitcase is the one you want to work with for sound if you want to keep it drone free.
