What about the Bluetooth streaming- has anyone got that going with the iPhone 4?
        Yep Bt and MDI both.

I use an 8GB thumb drive with loads of Mp3s on it and it works brilliantly.

I also stream iPhone with the BT function on the RNC510 and it works perfectly also. I didn't bother with the iPhone cable at 88$ or so.

I have iPhone and IPad and have used most of the android devices, especially tablets and Apple have the best package IMHO. People just love to bash Apple it seems.

The Mi and Bt on the RNC510 is brilliant I believe.

        Cheers

Steaming via Bluetooth is not very good quality.

really? sounded pretty good when I had some music podcasts going..
but couldnt skip/ff/have track info displayed.

I also did the 'Volkswagen Media Device Interface (MDI) Firmware Upgrade 0150 KW22-2011 install tonight, not sure what it improves but may solve iphone issues? possibly..

I'm happy to be wrong. That was my observation when I was streaming. As long as it sounds good to you it's not really a problem then.

I'm thinking of buying one of these for my Golf. Do you have the seller name that you bought yours through?
                  Thanks, Nic.

Can anyone confirm if the following cable is compatible with the MY12 Tiguans? I'm guessing it should be but would like to confirm before buying one.

Is there any functionality differences between using the MDI cable or bluetooth?

my iphone4 cant stream over blutooth ... gave up after a while, not worth it, i dont have mdi but the rns510 has a sd card which i just load that with songs and transfer over, its not worth the hassle really.

If it works on a $150 Sanyo job, I would certainly expect it to work on a $2000 system.

But my main question is, is the cable a necessity? Can you do everything you can do with the cable over the bluetooth connection?

The bluetooth only streams the audio to the radio and you need to select the songs from your phone. The MDI cable integrates the phone into the radio so you can browse you music based on Artist, Album, Genre etc from the radio and with a bit of fiddling from the steering wheel controls (can't get this to work reliably for me). The only issue I have found with the cable and my iPhone4 is that I need to connect, disconnect and re-connect for it to work reliably. The first connection usually drops out the music volume on changing gear or any sort of electrical change ie turn off park brake, MFD commands. On the second reconnect it works perfectly... Really weird.
