Actually there is one Oz reseller I know of in QLD:

But I don't know what's the story with them spelling out the pronunciation of their store?

I know some parts of Qld are a bit slow (even outside of Daylight Saving), but people do generally finish primary school don't they and have good grasp of English?

They are based in VIC, but I can vouch for them! I purchased my VCDS from these guys and service is top notch! The owner is also a forum regular here

Ok, now I am interested in this VCDS business. Can I do this at home? Can you recommend any decent bits and pieces that do it?

Personally I prefer doing it outdoors!

Here's a quick glimpse of all the modules & setting options related to the Tig:
VW Tiguan (5N) - Ross-Tech Wiki

Quite frankly, incomplete, out-dated and a lot pinched from settings that work on say the Golfs & Passats and deemed compatible.

I think the lack of a complete guide on the Tig just reflects the fact that owners have little time to play around with their cars this way.

So unfortunately there's very little demand or necessity on the part of Ross-Tech to maintain it.

Do you think the wiring etc. may already be in the doors for the puddle lights, or easily accessible so that we could fit the puddle lights retrospectively then fix any errors with the VCDS?
