For a moment there (when I just saw the topic) ... I just cringed and shook my head!

But then I realised this isn't a video of launch control posted by Vince_S.

Hahaha lmao AussieTig!! Great idea though

Bakeryhill you'll need to reshoot the vid and use launch control. Much more fun

Wow it really short shifts in any gear above 1st.
        Were you in sports mode?

Just imagine the difference with an ecu remap!

No...in D for that one. Have used S a few times but giving the engine a good break in first before hammering the S mode too much.

Decided against the ECU remap - the APR dealer didn't inspire a lot of confidence - they've never done a new Tiguan before and apparently the whole ECU has to come out, breaking the security bolts.

Without them seeing the car it would be hard to guess whether the ECU has to come out or not. Some have to and some don't, luck of the draw. If it did have to come out, they'd replace the security bolts with new ones as part of the work anyway. It would be a 2 trip upgrade as on the 1st they'd read the ECU and its encoding and on the 2nd a few weeks later upload the upgrade.

Apart from having to go twice, pretty painless. And if you're serious about adding performance actually a pretty insignificant hurdle to cross ..... performance stock at best is average, whereas chipped its seriously fast ....

DSG's clearly an improvement, I wish we'd waited 3 months to get our instead of the slush box.

Ahhhhh and the oil temp is too cold!

                  without prejudice..
The video clearly shows S mode selected for that trip to red line in first.

Yep you're right - I took that many videos I forgot which one I uploaded. The one in D is actually better...

He indicated it would have to come out - no two ways about it. They replace the bolts indicating that they break them to get it out.

Can't remember the gentleman's name but I was wanting to speak to James who was busy.

I assume by James you mean the guys at Harding Performance?
I have had no problems with them, in fact they did both the state 1 and stage 2 ecu update on my car and the engine mount.

If you are looking for alternatives i believe there is a guy down at cleveland that build's custom tunes (bayside performance services i believe it is) but it would take about 4 hours from what i have heard.
The Tiguan is not on their list of cars at the moment but it runs the same engine and turbo as the Mk6 GTI so it shouold be the same.

                          Correct

They have to take the ECU out once for the trial and again for the real deal should I go ahead. I'll make do with the original spec and save myself $1695 in the process...

If you want more power and torque, $1600 gives you a massive increase which changes the car completely.

I would have a chat to the guys at Bayside Performance and see if they can do the Tig for you, I believe they are priced around $1000 for the Mk6 GTI (same engine, make sure you let them know that)

I also believe DNA Tuning are able to do the Mk6 GTI (and thus the Tig) for around $1000 but their process is a bit more hands on.

Are you coming to the Tig cruise on saturday Bakeryhill?

Probably not - got a young son who doesn't do well on long trips.
